Sayaka Miki
20 August 2012 @ 08:25 am
Overture
[Action; morning; 836 Hastings]

[Sayaka wakes up on Monday morning with her usual difficulty, tossing and turning in bed as the sunlight peeks through the window of her room.  Yawning, she rubs her eyes and wanders around the bedroom bleary-eyed and half asleep for a minute or so before finding the doorknob.  She manages to get all the way to the bathroom and is in the middle of brushing her teeth before she finally realizes that this place is unfamiliar and her pajamas aren't the ones she went to bed with.]

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh?  What the heck?

[And now she's immediately kicked into high gear, running back into 'her' bedroom and tearing the room apart.  There's got to be something familiar here, or at least something to tell her where she is.  She starts panicking even more when she notices she's not wearing a ring and her Soul Gem is nowhere to be found.]

No way!  No way, no way, no way!  Where is it?

[Action; afternoon; around town]

[Once Sayaka's done tearing the house apart looking for a Soul Gem she isn't going to find, she wastes no time in taking to the streets of Mayfield.  She's managed to find a baseball bat owned by one of the drones, and she holds it protectively at her side as she jogs up and down unfamiliar roads.  It's clear that she has no idea where she's going, evidenced by all the time she spends looking around warily.  She also seems off-put by the backwards-walking drones and other weird things going on.]

This is the weirdest labyrinth I've ever seen...

[Phone; evening; unfiltered]

[At this point, Sayaka figures that if she isn't in a witch's labyrinth, she can probably at least still contact her friends.  So now she's on the phone after having dialed Madoka's number.  Unfortunately, she has no idea that the call is going to go out to the entire town.]

Madoka?  Madoka, are you there?

[A] Action: Dairy]

[Margot has definitely been tipped off that something is up during the early hours of the morning when the tv had gone on the fritz, waking her up from a booze induced coma on the couch.

It’s only amplified when, later, she tries to go out the backdoor to have a pre-breakfast cigarette and manages to pass through the door. She plays with this for a moment (in-out-in-out) before it becomes solid again, ramming her face rather painfully into the wood and feeling like a fool.

It gives her an idea, though.

For most of the morning, she listens in to the phone network, confirming that other strange things are happening (and, really, all she has to do is look outside at the drones to know). Before noon, after she’s taken a trip to the floor through one of the kitchen chairs, she works up the nerve to head out and towards the dairy, willing to try something.

It’s Dist’s words that urge her on -- things are falling apart. Time to act. She feels good about this, pumped. She can do it.

The dairy door is in sight, she keeps striding purposefully forward, almost there and...

BAM!

She bounces unceremoniously off the door and lands flat on her ass, rubbing her forehead.

Okay. It only worked part of the time with the door at home and then randomly with the chair, maybe it just needs a bit? She gives it a few more minutes and then tries again, but this time more cautiously.

Same thing. Solid as a rock.

She can be found at this for the next several hours with absolutely no success whatsoever. Gold stars for trying?]

[B] Phone]

Has anyone else tried going through the walls of the dairy or city hall or the post office? It seems like things are -- are flickering. Like something is wrong with the illusion?

I tried myself, but had no luck. Maybe someone else will get it.

[And yes, someone does sound bitter about this.]

Henry

Tale 010: A Ghosting Town
754 Partridge Drive

[It's just another morning in Mayfield. Henry is waking to the sound of birds, like usual. But for some reason they seem to be hitting the same note in their chirping. Usually birds vary on their chriping don't they? But they just keep doing the same chirp. That's extremely weird. But, he's decided not to take much notice of it right now.

But his wake up isn't what he expected it to be. He moves towards the door and he trips over his carpet Falling towards the door, he raises his hands to catch himself. Henry expects his hands to stop himself on the door, but he falls right through, face planting on the ground with a loud thud. Wincing, he looks back to the door.]

What the-?

Phone

Did anyone else fall through their doors today?

[He's pretty up front about it, and just saying it casually. Obvious curiosity is obvious.]

Anywhere

[Henry's just accepted the fact that something weird is going on in Mayfield. About several times he's gone passed the same drone as he's walked around with it going in the other direction, backwards. Plus, he's found himself being able to pass through solid doors. Perhaps it is as Olivier said. The system was breaking down.

Currently Henry is just sitting, on a bench, at a table, on the sidewalk, wherever, reading a comic book.]

[While out on the street today, you're probably noticing all the weird things going on. Hopefully you're paying enough attention to hear the pitiful voice that seems to be coming from below you somewhere. Maybe from that storm grate nearby?]

Ah--! Oi, c-can you help me?!

[Upon having noticed that she had somehow gained the ability to phase through solid objects, Audrey had done what any teenager would do: stick her hand through absolutely everything

This is how she ended up in front of someone's house with her arm stuck through a now-solidified mailbox. She does not look nearly as concerned as she should be.]

[339 Brady Lane, morning]

[The residents of Brady Lane might be awoken by sporadic bursts of barking and snarling in the middle of the night, and by morning Mika has reached a rather foul mood. Her poor sleep schedule's bad enough, but with the added stress of the sudden TV and radio noise on top of it has put her on edge.]

Quinn, I'm going out. I need to stock up on a few things, I'll explain when I get back. Raz, stay safe, I don't want you getting hurt and both of you keep an eye on that drone.

[Phone]

[Someone's voice sounds more raw than usual, a low growl constant in her voice.]

The clocks have gone strange, the drones are acting up, and the walls and floors decide to play at being air for a while. Anyone else keeping track of this? It looks like our lovely little cage is starting to have accidents.

I'm going to keep track of the radio, see if I can't make out any of the mutterings, but it's too obnoxiously low right now to tell what they're saying.

[339 Brady Lane, afternoon]

[Something odd is going on at the Hatch house. Aside from occasional bursts of colorful swearing as her supplies fall through the walls and doors, Mika seems to be spending her time vandalizing the house. At least if those seals she seems intent on putting up could even be called that. Anyone coming close can smell sage smoke and there seems to be a lot of red tape on the windows.]

Lithuania
20 August 2012 @ 12:49 pm
trisdešimt trys; action
[Finding out about Mayfield's latest peculiarity would have been far more "annoying and concerning" rather than "sharply unsettling" if he hadn't found out about it via Poland's drone chattering at him a mile a minute, making that particular phrase as close to literal as it could get. And he was only asking Lithuania (or Mr. Laurinaitis) how he was over and over. It's the lack of Poland's pony, his flag, and the lack of nation feel that make Lithuania realize Poland's actually gone.

Backing through a tree is just the icing on the cake, to be honest.]

1333 Benny Road
[Hello, not!family! Lithuania is going through the house checking up on everyone, making sure they're present and accounted for. He's pretty obviously unhappy but he's also just as obviously trying not to look unhappy. He's also obviously on edge, as can easily be noted whenever he jumps at a flickering light or jerks back away from the sound of sudden static crashing out of the television.]

Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, and America's Houses
[Lithuania is just checking up on you guys to make sure you're okay. As in still here. Also he is looking like a puppy who was kicked into the rain, metaphorically speaking but he's pretending he's fine. He's also trying to ignore any instances of his hand going through doors rather than him knocking like he actually intends to do.]

Are you alright?

Olney's Tavern
[The alcohol here has always been incredibly weak, and that's not when even the structure of the bar and class is so weak as to make it go crashing to the ground for no good reason. Still, Lithuania is trying his best to get himself drunk enough to stop feeling so awful, at least for a few hours.

It's not really working, though.]

They have no idea how to make decent beer here.

A. [Phone]

[The phone clicks on and there are a few moments of silence as Jenny is taking notes on the experiments that she's been working on since early last night. After a few moments she starts talking.]

I'm sure most, if not all of you are aware of what's been going on. Don't panic. If you've noticed, it seems to be the world that's unstable, not us. I'd suggest anyone who's trying to figure out this place do your experimentation and notation now before this gets worse. Also, if anyone can get hold of what those whispers are saying I'd appreciate it. Even with the tape recorder I can't get it loud enough to hear what they're saying.

[There's some more scratching and a sudden 'THUD' as the phone passes right through her hand and hits the floor. Bloody instability. She takes the time to pull out one of her actual cigarettes and light up as she waits for the moment to pass, then picks up the phone again.]

I'd like a roll call of everyone I know right now. We lost a lot of people recently and I want to make sure we're all on the same page before this gets any worse. Henry, I think it's time for a little more target practice. Olivier, we need to talk.

B. [Action: 305 Miller Street]

[Jenny's moving around the house, not bothering to really look where she is going as she takes notes and does experiments. There are various things hanging out of the wall that occasionally fall to the ground and she's been fiddling with the radio and TV since early this morning. For once the door is wide open and visitors are welcome to come assist in her research. She's pretty sure she knows what's going on though. The world is starting to die. They're going to have to confront the little bitch about it soon.]

ACTION • (852) GOLDBERG STREET.
[ You might notice, if you were to walk around the street, an angel asleep in the sunshine. He's gotten better at the whole 'sleeping for energy' thing, but it's warm and bright outside and he's settled down to enjoy himself. The only thing is that he's not exactly asleep outside his own home - rather, he's outside Crowley's. He really only spends one night every now and then in his own house these days, just so he doesn't upset the balance and get himself killed. Besides, the tree by Crowley's house is much nicer - the demon was probably scaring it in to it's brilliant growth. ]
PHONE • (OPEN, HOURS LATER)
[ Aziraphale still sounds a little tired and worn down, but at least he's trying to be social! He's just not very good at this sort of thing. ]

I don't suppose anyone could tell me what they do for... Fun here? For pleasure, I mean. I'm rather fond of reading myself, but the library here is somewhat lacking - I've found myself a little at a loss, now, you see.

[ACTION A; 1761 Beaver Street]

[Of course, the dog is the first to notice that something is amiss. The radio, having turned itself on at full volume, rouses the poor beast from his slumber, and the mabari hops off the bed to growl and bark at the offending device. Sadly used to such wakeup calls, Hawke sits up, rubbing her eyes and frowning.]

Maker's breath, boy, there's no need for--

[FWOOSH.

And as she pushes herself to her feet, Hawke falls through the bed, passes through the floor, and lands neatly in the living room. On the couch. Where her not!husband is sleeping. Or, well, where he was sleeping. Oops.]

[ACTION B; wherever]

[Falling through the floor was one thing, but the creepier-than-usual drones are something else entirely. When Merida's drone starts walking backwards and continually asking for the time, Hawke decides it's time to get the hell out of the house and walk the dog.

So, together with Cupcake, she walks through the front door - literally - and sets about exploring the town. She doubts she'll find anything interesting, so she amuses herself by watching the dog phase through trees and fences before peeing on them. Maybe he's doing his business in your front yard!]

tenth note | reACT
[ACTION, around town]

[Miku doesn't notice all the changes at first. She's a bit too busy keeping her voice in shape and making posters for the band's upcoming auditions (and her birthday!), though she does register it when the lights flicker. Something's up, for certain, but when nothing happens, she pushes it to the back of her mind. She can worry about that later.

It comes straight back to the front of it when, rushing to get the posters up, she runs right through the front door of her house, an armful of posters in hand. And--is that drone walking backwards?

Feel free to greet your friendly and visibly unnerved neighborhood idol as she's putting up audition posters, folks.]

[PHONE]

I know everyone's probably seen what's going on already. It's a little scary, but maybe it's nothing? [...yeah, right.] If it isn't, then everyone be careful.

Anyway, does anyone want to be in a band? I'm holding auditions on August 31, at 1332 Benny Road, so if you want in, then come over!

[It...probably goes without saying that Miku will not let anyone touch the position of lead singer. That is hers, thank you very much, but all the others are fair game.]

Luke Triton
20 August 2012 @ 07:46 pm
Puzzle 033
[So Luke's aware that he should be more worried about what's going on what with drones walking backwards and reality becoming a little more shaky.

But oh man he just learned he can walk through walls. So instead of preparing for what's to come he'll be abusing this new power to phase through any walls or doors in the house. He's a little too excited about this new found ability, finally he's no longer the only one in his family that can't phase through objects.

Of course it's all fun in games until said ability wears off and Luke manages to find himself stuck inside of the tree in the front yard.]

H-hey! Hello? I'm stuck!
