A Better Place To Live - October 1st, 2012

You awaken one morning in a bright, summer suburb straight out of the 1950s. There's a smile on every neighbor's face, not a cloud in the sky, and the paper has been delivered on time, just like every other morning. Your spouse lays next to you; your kids are asleep in the other room. Looking around, you see photos of yourself and your family- your wedding, the birth of your first child, your last family vacation.

The problem? You can't remember any of this happening.

゜ﾟ*❀*ﾟ゜ Five - Adventures in Babysitting

[Now that school's started, Mayfield has one more part time employed youth to look after the children of all the overworked parents, drones and prisoners alike.

And it's an easy way to make money once you've been in charge of hundreds of students in the past. So, if you happen to answer the door, here is one hopeful teenager arriving on time to babysit the children of the household.

Or perhaps just arriving, regardless of the existence of any children in the household.]

[Riza has been laying low for a while. Things in town and their rapid changes have unnerved her enough for her to spend more of her days surreptitiously poking around when she felt she might be safe from notice.]

[But early this morning, any passers-by might see a very pale and shaken looking Riza burst out of the front door in her pajamas, Black Hayate close behind and barking. Seeing drones around town of friends that had previously been in Mayfield was one thing. Waking up next to one was entirely another.]

[Tonight, Riza stays in the park as late as she can. After calling to see who might still be here, she left the house with Black Hayate. She had thought of walking to the houses of people she knew, but she didn't have the energy--and she was just a little bit worried she might find more people had been sent home.]

[So she and Black Hayate spend much of the evening walking the park, until well after dark. When Hayate's had enough energy, Riza took a spot on a bench and tossed a tennis ball for Hayate to catch and bring back.]

[You might want to pay attention to that ball, because Riza isn't. ~~That could mean you end up with tennis ball in the face.~~]]
