ADVENTURE 003: Jobs are Dull

[Sherlock had heard about the possibility of being droned, so here he is at work. And he's actually, you know, working. He's not here for his own gain, nor to do research. And he's actually pointing customers in the right direction, after telling them something about themselves they'd rather keep hidden. He doesn't sound like he wants to help. He sounds more like he's here under threat of punishment - which is pretty much true.]

[Sherlock is reading a book - or pretending to. He's actually watching drones and people milling about. He's hoping to try to think his way out of this place. And he's hoping by observing others, he'll learn something.]

[Sherlock just looks at her for a minute, waiting for her to clarify her request.]

It's just a bruise. I fell down the other day, and it's been hurting on and off so I thought an ice pack would work better than the pack of peas I've been using.

[Hence the long sleeves. However, Sherlock should pick up enough about Terra to know that she got into a fight. Her body language and her posture should give her away, as well as the slight bruise on her face and the cut lip.]

[Oh he believes she fell, just not that the fall is the reason for the bruises.]

And clearly you don't know much about science. The chemical cold packs remain cold for about as long as a bag of peas. And it would be more cost effective to either make ice-cubes at home and wrap them in a towel or buy ice in the store than trying to use the ice packs they sell here. The benefit of the peas, is you can cook and eat them when they've thawed.

I didn't get hit. I tripped and fell down on a rock.

[ Conan does a lot of running around on his own. Most days he doesn't even say anything and just leaves the house only to return after sunset sporting some new bruises. Today wasn't any different as he left shortly after sunrise and hasn't yet made it home. He's been busy stalking the librarian, watching house 501, stalking around City Hall, Oh! And he fell out of a tree. ]

[ His own investigations aren't going so well so that of course puts him in a bit of a sour mood which isn't at all helped by the fact his arms and legs are little scratched up from the fall. He has some grass stains on his left sleeve and maybe a twig in his hair still. He notices Sherlock and moves over to see if the older Detective is having better luck. ]

[ Action - Bench ]

[He knows what Conan wants and he answers the unasked question.]

No. I'm just saving you the trouble of asking. I've been at my not job all day and everyone is just as dull there as everywhere else.

[He looks Conan over.]

[ If he were anyone else, Conan might have been surprised that he already knew what he meant to ask. But since it's Sherlock Holmes he just kind of shrugs. ]

[Sherlock sounds like he's talking more from experience, than from deducing Conan.]

It's nothing. I'm a little sore now, but I don't think it'll be that much worse tomorrow-and I won't let it get in my way.

[There is a man who appears to be walking a rabbit on a leash in the park. The rabbit seems to amble, nosing at grass and flowers. The man himself is smoking a cigarette and seems to be patiently waiting for the rabbit.]

Sherlock approaches the man.]

Ah, excuse me, can you spare me a cigarette? I'm gasping.

[If not, Sherlock will probably inhale any smoke the man exhales.]

[He'll start fishing in his pockets.]

[Sherlock was carrying a lighter in his pocket and lights it. He takes a long drag before he speaks again.]

It's been practically a year. Since my last one.

So... the Rabbit. It's name wouldn't be Bluebell, would it?

[He'll look over again, somewhat curious that the man wants to talk some more.]

[Cain is often in the pharmacy to visit Holland, so he's quite surprised to see a new face in there. Hopefully Sherlock won't mind a small boy trying to buy medicine without an adult.]

Could I have a box of antacids, please?

[He looks about eight years old, which is eternally annoying to him. One day he will be grateful of slow ageing, but not yet.]

They're not for me, they're for my brother. He tends to overeat and I'd rather have some antacids in the house just in case.
