ADVENTURE 003: Jobs are Dull

[Action; Pharmacy.]

[Sherlock had heard about the possibility of being droned, so here he is at work. And he's actually, you know, working. He's not here for his own gain, nor to do research. And he's actually pointing customers in the right direction, after telling them something about themselves they'd rather keep hidden. He doesn't sound like he wants to help. He sounds more like he's here under threat of punishment - which is pretty much true.]

Need help with anything?

[Action; City Bench.]

[Sherlock is reading a book - or pretending to. He's actually watching drones and people milling about. He's hoping to try to think his way out of this place. And he's hoping by observing others, he'll learn something.]

[He doesn't want them that badly, he can just ask Holland for them later.]

Hence why he is not working... in the church. Then he is old enough to take care of himself. Very well.

[Sherlock gestures for the lad to follow him.]

[Curious, Cain does as he's bid and follows Sherlock. Hopefully this will lead to the antacids he wanted.]

[Sherlock did lead him to the aisle that contained the antacids.]

No, any are fine. Preferably strong ones, please.

Well, no such thing as "Extra Strength" back in the 50's. And there were only a few 'chewable' kinds, as you can see. Most were either liquid or you dissolved them in water.

[He'll wait for the youth to choose one.]

Definitely the ones that dissolve in water, he can be a big baby when taking medicine.

[Sort of true, it's all an act.]

[Sherlock grabs a roll of Alka-Seltzer.]

Right. That will be twenty cents.

That would be because I didn't introduce myself.

[He always forgets that part - might be intentional forgetting.]

[He smiles brightly, offering his hand to shake.]

Cain... let me guess, you're brother is Able?

[Sherlock keeps forgetting that funny doesn't suit him.]

Different last names. Stepbrothers? Or were one of you adopted.

Neither, we were just named by different people.

[Don't even ask, his family is weird as hell.]

So. When you are named, you receive a first name and last name. How do people know who's related?

Believe me, you could never mistake my family for anything other than related to me.

[Which is true, if not for the usual reasons.]

It's possible. I would have to meet another member of your family to make that determination, though.

If you drop by the church most days, you can meet my brother. He's the one with grey hair and a silly face.

[Sherlock nods.]

The vicar, you mentioned.

[Sherlock listens, even when it seems like he's not.]

Actually, he's a priest, he works for the Vatican.

[Not that it particularly mattered to Cain, one branch of Christianity was much like another.]

[Sherlock waves the details aside.]

Technically, they believe they work for God.

[Not that Sherlock believes any of it.]

Should I take it that you're not a religious man, sir?

Religious? No.

[But religion is far too stagnant for someone like Sherlock.]
