Good morning, Mayfield. This is Nanoha Takamachi speaking. [ How formal! But she has a question, so it's only right she does it this way. ] I have a request. I know that we can recover items from home, and such technology was not available in the era this town is modeled after, but does anyone have a more modern television or entertainment system available that I might be able to borrow? It would need to play video discs of DVD quality or higher. I promise to take really good care of it. [ And she is using her mature-but-cheerful voice for this call. ] It would either be that, or I would ask to borrow your property for a time, so that I might show off a film from home. I will even clean up when we are finished.

[ Action : On the streets of Mayfield ]
[ Nanoha is out walking today, dressed simply but outside of Mayfield's usual standards. It's amazing the difference a shorter skirt makes. Those who know her can probably take a guess that her neighbor and friend, Hayate, is the one responsible for this alteration.

The woman is moving with a purpose in mind, but she'll still stop for some pleasant conversation if someone approaches her. ]

[ There is a knock at the door! But this should come to no surprise as she had called ahead the day before to make certain everyone she wanted to see would be here. Nanoha would very much like to meet Fate's assigned "family". No reason they cannot all get along well, right? ]

[Ako is just wandering around when she notices Nanoha there, and raised a hand in greeting.]

[ Nanoha slows to a halt and faces the girl. ] Good morning. It's a nice day for a walk, don't you think? [ That might seem like a canned, drone answer, but Nanoha doesn't exactly look the part. What 1950's lady would have a massive side-tail like this? ]

Yeah, it's pretty good. You're the new person down the street right? I'm Ako, one of the Marvelous's. [Well, at least the ones that were left anyhow after a few dronings and what not. Still she tried to force out the niceness despite everything.]

[guiding_starlight]

This street? [ Where had she turned, again...? Ah, that's right. ] Not quite, but I am relatively new, still. My name is Nanoha Takamachi — though the plate on the mailbox says "Kurenai". [ Even though her not!husband has been droned for weeks. ]

It is nice to meet you, Ako. I take it that your assigned house is somewhere nearby?

[Bazett's first reaction upon seeing Hayate's friend is to try to hide herself. Any conversations would just be too awkward now.]

[ Nanoha stops and peers down around the front of the car where she thought she saw a familiar head of hair a moment sooner, but had ducked just out of sight. ] Did you lose something?

[At the sound of the voice, she freezes and turns toward Nanoha.]

N-no, I did not lost anything.

I don't have either of those. Will a laptop do?

[ She just might! If a touch older, perhaps; though it's hard to tell with the quality of these old phones.

Nanoha, however, carries on with no recognition on her end. ] I admit I didn't consider that possibility. It seems like computers would be largely incompatible with the infrastructure of this time. [ Meaning: no internet, and no wireless communications. ]

Hmm, it might be difficult to use a screen like that to show more than one or two people at a time. I couldn't possibly borrow something that important for such a long time.

They are, but there's a small internet network now. You can't access sites like Google, but it's at least an alternate means of communication besides phones. That and you can play games. [which is mostly what he's been doing with it anyway]

Nah. If it's just two or three days, I don't mind. Besides, I don't have any movies.

945 Beulah

[42_passes]

[After a bit of time, the androgynous child of the household finally answers the door.

Anyone who actually knocks is probably someone Crona's never met before, so the kid was already fully prepared with that gaze planted firmly upon the ground and mostly hidden behind the door.]

H-hello...

[guiding_starlight]

[ That is a level of timid she hasn't dealt with in some time. She smiles, not yet stepping in. ] Hello. My name is Nanoha. You must be Crona? Fate has spoken of you before.

[ Gesturing with her hand. ] May I come in?

[42_passes]

[Crona simply nods, keeping that gaze fixed on the floor as the child backs up, opening the door fully but staying FIRMLY behind it.]

I can help! I got a computer and DVD player.

[guiding_starlight]

[ By now she is less surprised to hear about computers or the Mayfield intranet. ]

Pardon the clarification, but are they both together? And what size is the screen, if so?

[technohippie]

I got both a 17-inch laptop, and a DVD player hooked up to a 60-inch TV. The choice is yours.

[then_there_were_none]

[A volleyball bounces over a fence, and will eventually make its way into Nanoha's path.

A little blonde head appears over the fence after it as Flandre stands on her toes, followed by some batlike wings that hook over the top and keep her in place.]

Miss! Could you throw the ball back?

[She sounds rather cheerful.]

[guiding_starlight]

Oh! [ She moves over and picks the ball up in a crouch. When she turns to give it back, the wings make her pause. Certainly she has seem some unique individuals around Mayfield, but had never really interacted with them.

Despite that, her hesitation is minimal as she trots over with the ball. ] It's a good thing I came along. [ Though she looks around to see if the girl is playing with anyone else in that yard... ]

[then_there_were_none]

[The little girl smiles, bouncing a bit in place.]

[Oh, there's just Flandre in the yard.

All four of them.

One is sitting down, though also looking over at Nanoha, one flopped over on the grass with her wings all sprawled out apparently taking a nap in the sun, and another is intently following a trail of ants on the sidewalk leading up to the house.

The one on the fence stays right where she is.]

It is a type of storage medium for data. I don't even believe they have magnetic tapes this early on, but the vinyl records of this time are close enough. They are much more compact and can hold far more information.

The one that Vivio received is a film, but we won't be able to use the projectors at the drive-in for this.

[ And here is one energetic daughter of yours, who just finished cleaning her room spotless to make sure her Mama would be proud. She's got all of her Mayfield test scores organized in her room too, along with her stuffed animals, and is just bubbling over with excitement. She really wants to see that her mother is happy with her. ]

Mama! You're here! Welcome to the house!

[guiding_starlight]

[ Smiling brightly. ] Thank you, Vivio! I'm excited to see where you've been staying this whole time. [ Well, and to meet the others, but what is continuity? ]

I'm excited to show you! Fate-mama keeps the house really clean, and my siblings here are really nice. Oh! I can show you my room! [ And how clean it is! ]
