Good morning, Mayfield. This is Nanoha Takamachi speaking. [ How formal! But she has a question, so it's only right she does it this way. ] I have a request. I know that we can recover items from home, and such technology was not available in the era this town is modeled after, but does anyone have a more modern television or entertainment system available that I might be able to borrow? It would need to play video discs of DVD quality or higher. I promise to take really good care of it. [ And she is using her mature-but-cheerful voice for this call. ] It would either be that, or I would ask to borrow your property for a time, so that I might show off a film from home. I will even clean up when we are finished.

[ Nanoha is out walking today, dressed simply but outside of Mayfield's usual standards. It's amazing the difference a shorter skirt makes. Those who know her can probably take a guess that her neighbor and friend, Hayate, is the one responsible for this alteration.

The woman is moving with a purpose in mind, but she'll still stop for some pleasant conversation if someone approaches her. ]

Got into a bad fight with Ciel a couple weeks ago. She's been barely here long enough to not get droned.

...she's avoiding me.

Oh dear. Does this have something to do with the vines?

Kind of. Big misunderstanding.

...I thought she was going to hurt Tsuchinoko. [And so she reacted.]

So you defended them. [ The obvious conclusion. Marisa did not seem the kind of girl to take threats to friends (or otherwise) sitting down, and if it caused that kind of misunderstanding, it must have been drastic. ] Was anyone seriously hurt?

A dire misunderstanding, indeed.

It might be difficult, having so little time to do it in, but have you spoken with her in detail about what transpired?

Well, we yelled at each other about it immediately afterward, and I told her I'd thought she was going to hurt him!

...and then Arc-- um, Phantasmoon showed up. Ciel stormed off and I literally haven't seen her since then. I know she's around, cause there's evidence of it.

I believe a second, calmer discussion is long overdue. Communication is key to resolving tension of this sort. Hmm, but that will be difficult if she isn't around to talk to.

[ Aaaand she's already meddling. ] Ciel must have somewhere else where she is spending all this time. Can you think of where that might be?

I know where she is, ze. The Church. Been debating on it.

I know someone else who has been having communication trouble. Over a misunderstanding no less severe than this. I understand that it isn't my place to offer advice, but if I can help, please tell me.

The cause of the conflict isn't something I can disclose freely. Sorry, if I made you curious about it. [ Besides, she doesn't think Marisa will have much sympathy for one of the ladies involved. ]

As for my friend, I know she needs nudging from time-to-time, which just matches my inclination to do exactly that.

Geeze, you know you can put things into vagueness without naming names if privacy was your hang-up. Cause bringing it up does make a person curious, ze.

But whatever.

Unless you're having relationship trouble, too, I doubt the details will matter. But I stand by what I said about communication. Even if she's avoiding you, you need to be more persistent.

[ Nanoha, that doesn't always work... ]

You're the one that said it was just as severe, but whatever, ze. Ciel needs time to cool down. But it's been long enough.

The misunderstanding was painful in both cases. That's really all there is in common. I should have been clearer.
