Heya everyone. So, Halloween's in a week and I happened to notice the great lack of jack-o-lanterns on everyone's front stoops. How are we going have an amazing time trick-or-treating if everything isn't festive?

Come on, everyone. Where's the spirit? I'm totally going to set up a community pumpkin carving festival in the park this weekend. Maybe we can trade costume ideas, too. I'm dressing up as a cat. Meow~

Oh! Rin! When you hear this... [Marisa sounds a little nervous.] ...wanna come over for dinner? Mom makes the best roast. We can, um, finish that... project for school.

[Marisa is diligently carving pumpkins outside. The designs are a little... odd though.]

That project... [ She trails off for a moment while she tries to figure out what she might have meant by it. Don't worry, it was only for a few seconds before it kicks in. ] Y-Yeah, it's due next week isn't it? We better get to work on it.

I just might have to stay over so we could finish it before it's due.

[You're killing her, Rin. She's fidgeting on the other end of the phone for those few seconds, so the sigh of relief when the other girl catches on is a little audible. It's not like she can SAY what she means with her father and mother nearby...]

Totally, ze. My parents will kill me if I get a zero. They'll, like, ground me and not let me go out on Halloween. And my costume is so cute, too~

...lemme ask Dad about you staying. You know how Mom's a bit, um, strict.

Not at all. The hard part is creating the face, but if you draw it on the front first, you'll be okay.

H.. huh? Y-you really will? [ she's a little surprised - either that (or well, probably both) or she's just being shy as usually. ]

It wouldn't be a bother..?

I g.. guess I'd like to learn then.. W-we still need Halloween decorations for o-our house.

[Yuyuko picks up one of the finished pumpkins, admiring the design. She'd found herself wondering around a lot lately, even more so than before. She'd had memories of pumpkin carving in Halloweens past but it was such a foreign concept]

How unique, did you come up with the designs yourself?

Yeah... [She doesn't sound the most comfortable admitting that.] Must've dreamed 'em up or something.

Did you carve similar designs last year? You must get a lot of practice to do something so intricate.

I don't remember what designs I did last year, so they probably weren't anything special. Or interesting.

Why would I? As a school popular, I'm more surprised that you don't get classmates over more often. Is it because I'm a teacher? I'm fairly sure that I'm not at all intimidating, though... French isn't hard if they put their minds into it! Besides, isn't miss Rin an honor roll student?

This one is a witch... and this one is a vampire. I think. [Her brow furrows.]

Oh? They look different from what I would expect witches and vampires to look.

[She stares at the "vampire".]

Especially since this one...has wings.

Not every witch has to be ugly and misshapen. And vampires turn into bats, so maybe they have wings hidden under their cloak.

[She winces. There was a pang in her head just then.]

I-I suppose they might. But would they not have more bat-like wings?
