That's not precisely how I expected to wake up yesterday, but all things considered, it could be worse.

Well then, introductions, I suppose. Best as I can manage, at least. My name is Remus, and I assure you that I am a completely uninteresting human being. So uninteresting, I can't rightly think how to introduce myself, apparently.

[sigh] I always was crap at this.

I'm still-- still trying to work everything out here, so if someone would be so kind as to entertain a few questions? I realize we're all relatively in the dark here, but...

Ah, never mind.

[Remus' face screws up for a moment, and he shakes his head.]

Not sure if getting my magic back is worth that. You?

[bespell]

[Lily has yet to run into anyone desperate enough, or perhaps just dumb enough, to have made the trade, so she shakes her head.] If it was a last resort, perhaps. I'm perfectly willing to wait with all my limbs intact.

Quite right.

[Remus draws a slow breath, scrubbing a hand back through his hair.]

Still, sorry you're stuck with our lot. Suppose there aren't many people you'd less prefer to accompany you to a strange place against your will.

[bespell]

[It may have been an uncharacteristic gesture of her back at Hogwarts, with many eyes on them, but Lily reaches forward to pat him on the shoulder, smiling gently.] Don't think like that. We're in this together. We don't have to be facing an unknown, inexplicable danger to be decent to one another, either.

[werewolfoflondon]

[Remus smiles and pats her hand gently.] Well, we don't. Can't say the same for James and Sirius, at times.

[bespell]

We'll just have to make sure they stay alive and sane, then. [She squeezes Remus's shoulder.] I've kept Black in one piece until now, at least.

[werewolfoflondon]

For an entire month, I can't imagine how you managed that. [Remus laughs quietly.] But thank you for that. We're rather fond of him. It would be a shame to have him in all separate pieces.

[bespell]

Not that death is... Permanent, here. [Even though, the very idea of death distressing, regardless of its permanence.] I wouldn't want anyone hurt. There's been so much senseless incidents here to begin with.

[werewolfoflondon]

Not permanent? [Oh, that just doesn't seem to sit well with him. Not at all.]

That's... odd.

[bespell]

There were some people hurt very recently, and now they're walking around as if nothing had happened.

[werewolfoflondon]

You're sure they were dead, then? Not just hurt?

[Remus can think of half a dozen ways, just off the top of his head, for a fatally-injured person to carry on wandering the world. Most of them involve potions, but that was probably only because he was--

Merlin, but just yesterday, he'd been at Hogwarts studying for exams.

Remus scrubs vigorously at his face for a moment, trying to tap against his own reality again; find his center, no matter how off-kilter it's presently been thrown.]

Not that I reckon it matters, if they're alright again.

[bespell]

[Lily hesitates. No one she's met here has actually died and returned from the death, even if she's seen the dead bodies of others.]

Be careful, that's all I'm asking.

[werewolfoflondon]

'Careful' is a rather relative term when one associates with Sirius Black and James Potter, you know that. [Remus smirks, then shrugs.] But I shall try my best to keep us out of trouble. All of us. ...not that they ever listen to me.

[bespell]

They'll think this is a game. You know how it is. Everything is a game to them. [if Remus's pillow was sentient, it'd be yelping for help at the force Lily's squeezing it with.]

[werewolfoflondon]

Well. Not everything.

[Remus offers a small smile, extending his hand to Lily.]

Shall we go find our daring companions, then?

[bespell]

Convenient for us that they're living together. [She relinquishes the pillow and allows Remus to help her up.] How well do you bike?

[werewolfoflondon]

Can't say as I've ever tried, but I suppose I'll have to learn at some point, won't I?

[bespell]

It's no worse than balancing on a broom [never mind Lily is just horrid on a broom.] Once you get the hang of it, you never forget.

[werewolfoflondon]

I'll take your word for it. And hope that I don't maim myself too horribly in the process. James absolute;y mangled his trousers on the way here yesterday. I imagine, by his account, the bicycle is a devil-machine.

[bespell]

That he did. [There is a smile twitching at the corner of Lily's lips. It's amusing, a bi reassuring, really, to see the perfect Potter fail at least at one thing.] Don't worry. I'll make sure that it doesn't happen to you.

[werewolfoflondon]

You have my thanks. [Remus bows his head slightly and motions her out of the room with a flourish.] Ladies first.

...and honestly, if you ever want to borrow a pair of my trousers instead of those awful skirts, my closet is welcome to you.

[bespell]

Why, thank you! [Lily pokes her head out. From the smell in the kitchen, it sounds like their fake mother is busy preparing dinner.] I'll let you know whenever I get sick of feeling like an oversized cupcake, which would have happened around my first day here.

[werewolfoflondon]

[Remus pauses at the door, staring hard down the end of the hall.]

...do you think we can get by without her seeing?

[bespell]

[Turning back to him, Lily mouths "Front door" before leading him down the stairs that stop short of passing the kitchen. Their young looking drone father isn't home yet, and they reach the last step in time to hear their mother gush on the phone about how handsome her little boy is.]

[werewolfoflondon]

[Remus... is just blushing madly when the slip out onto the front breezeway, and Remus eases the door shut behind them.]

Merlin, but she's going to be embarrassing.
