[You can tell by Floyd's voice he is just putting this on. He loves the idea of school and all the new friends he will meet (And no doubt inadvertently cross personnel space boundaries with) this morning.]

Being serious though, I plan to go and hug every single person I meet. Including the teachers. And the principal. And I think I have finally finished my song and dance introduction for when I get through the front doors!

[Yes. Floyd is INSANE as he normally is, perhaps more so given the ratio of new people he will meet at school. Can his not!parents talk ANY sense into the young lad???]

[B - Mayfield High, Later that morning...]

AHA! My first day of school! GREETINGS FELLOW SCHOOL CHUMS!

[Floyd is outside the school building as other students flow in before the bell goes. Anyone with any common sense is no doubt given him a wide birth and avoiding any form of eye contact, others however may be excited at seeing such a new and enthusiastic person in school!]

I can't wait to meet my teacher and give them the apple I picked from the floor after my father threw it at the back of my mothers head the other day! They will love it!

[Yep, and he has already mentioned the awkwardness of his home life. Two for two. Hopefully some kind person will come and take him under their wing and stop him from becoming the target of any and all bully who currently goes to the school!]

[Floyd, no. Just...no. Hajime has been trying to ignore you and read the Mayfield newspaper, but let's face it, that newspaper has all the redeeming literary value of a phone book. And Floyd can only be ignored for so long. He will glare at Floyd over the top of said newspaper. Hajime does not know much about how school works because it was just never relevant, but he's picked up bits and pieces here and there.]

Floyd. No singing. No dancing. No hugging. That will get you sent to the principal's office.

And I do not wish to be called in there for a parent/teacher conference.

[Because Amane back home was always so good about behaving all the time, he knows what those are and why they happen, at least. There's a long pause.]

[Floyd pauses, a little disappointed that all his ideas have basically become vito'd]

Maybe you should try hugging sometime! It makes everything better, even grumpy smiles like yours!

[It has not escaped Floyd's attention that if he ever wanted Hajime to visit school he needs to see the principal, mental note!]

Are you going to drive me in Dad and see your son off on his first day at a new school! HUMANS do things like that, and your not quite human yourself are you so maybe you should join in too!

[Oh yes, Floyd went there. This is one of, possibly the only, times he will one up someone today! Woo!]

[At first, Hajime just arches an eyebrow at Floyd.]

No hugging. And quit calling me "Dad."

[Have a stare that suggests that under no circumstances will Hajime be driving Floyd to anywhere ever. Being trapped in a small metal box with Floyd? No, thank you.

...and he didn't really appreciate that stab at his own humanity, either. You're proud to be a Lallorian, right, Floyd? Hajime can't say the same about being Undead.]

I lived as a human before coming here. I believe I know what I am talking about.

I'll TRY not to hug. But your still my Dad!

[Clearly Floyd hit a nerve with Hajime, but only because he was no doubt right. Hajime has the human look, but not all the emotion. Maybe he could siphon off Floyd's excess and they could both meet somewhere in the middle!]

You know taking me to school and making people think you are doing a good job at parenting would be a good way to one up Mom!

[One last ditch attempt at the ride. If Hajime's dislike of Kreutzer wasn't enough to get him going... nothing was!]

[At Floyd's insistence on calling him Dad still, Hajime merely grunts and takes another swig of his coffee. Floyd, you're not a cockroach monster, you clearly cannot be his child...not that he'll mention that. But hey, he said he'd try not to hug. Small progress. You're lucky Hajime's gotten past the "freak out badly if I'm touched" stage, Floyd.]

You make that sound like Kreutzer and I are in some sort of competition.

[Hey, it's a mostly private war. Except when the explosions alert the neighbors to the fact that something at this house is probably wrong.]

Besides, I don't see what's so bad about walking. Your legs seem to work just fine.

That's funny Dad, it's only a competition if the contests are equally matched... And by my count since I've been here alone Mom has flat out beat you in every game you've had!

[Bless Hajime, he actually thinks there is a chance his losing could be called competition!]

There's nothing wrong with walking at all! We can WALK together to school! A Dad and Son, united in the healthy exercise and taking in of fresh oxygen as they bond over the first day at a new school! HUZZAH!

[You have to give Floyd his due, at least he is persistent with his goals, even against Hajime's unending wall of pouting!]

[This isn't a pout, Floyd. It's a glare. Hajime is glaring at you. It's not his fault Kreutzer hit up the Post Office before he got anything back, which really screwed up the balance of power in this house. Maybe if he had access to an actual ranged attack things would be going better for him. You should probably be glad he doesn't like guns.]

Kreutzer fights without honor. On an even battlefield, I would destroy her.

[Slams his coffee cup down a little hard as he says that.]

...and the school is in a completely different direction than the one in which I need to travel from work. So no, we will not be walking together.

[Floyd has a deflated look as Hajime makes yet ANOTHER excuse to get out of spending time with him. Oh well, there is always Kreutzer!]

Very well Dad, I will walk the lonely road alone! I will soon have an army of friends at school who I can travel with on school days!

[Delusion. The perfect way to overlook cold hard fact!]

I suppose I should set off now! I have to be prudent on my first day of school!

[Floyd gets up and grabs his bag before heading out to school. Hajime can rest now, while it's the school's turn to mentally face palm itself into unconsciousness!]

[Oh, good. Floyd is leaving. Given the way Hajime was glaring, this is probably for the best. He's watching Floyd go and is once again mentally weighing his chances at the Post Office. He will, however, call out a last bit of parental advice as Floyd leaves.]

Just remember that if anyone hits you, you need to punch them right back.

[...and that is probably about as close to a "have a good day at school!" as you'll get, Floyd.]

[.............. Something's wrong with this kid. Fang's certain something's wrong with this kid. There's no doubt in her mind that something is indeed, wrong with this kid. Though... He can't be a drone, the drones don't act like this... The kid sticks out worse than when a hunk of flesh had been ripped out of a hunter's side from Oerba... Crap.]

Think ya might wanna tone down there. Gotta use quieter voices around 'ere.

[Floyd's eyes light up with delight as someone talks to him. The first person to do so at school (Who isn't a drone giving a typical greeting before moving on), hopefully the first of many!]

QUIET!? Why would anyone want to be quiet on such an amazing school day! I need everyone to know I am here to make friends... unless that's what your doing, wanting to be friends, meaning I could quiet down a little!

[Yes, Floyd does like to lay it on thick with people. Heck, with everything he does. Hopefully this person will be able to cope!]

[Floyd is clearly feeling a little deflated, but he has to respect what people tell him. For now anyway.]

Nice t'meet ya too Floyd. [Yeah, she's just gonna leave that friend part of the comment alone for now, no use poking a sleeping bear after all.]

[Oh no, it's that crazy boy again!

Nabuca spies him in the schoolyard, eyes widening with horror, before he backs away and tries to make his escape.]
