[Once he'd gotten home from downtown, Keith had found the letter and what Shirley had done made much more sense.
What a strange town. . .
While not exactly competitive, an idea suddenly struck him. He was used to games - Hero TV, for example - and he enjoyed them. Maybe if he could help some people but still play the game, it would be worth it.
Which is why the people in his letter are going to get a knock at the door, or a ring at the doorbell. When the door is opened, the only thing that will be on the porch is a pastry box and a note. You've been ding dong ditched!
The pastry box has pie! Delicious, normal pie, to make up for the trick. The note reads:
Have a nice day.
p.s. You may want to stay inside.
It may be possible to catch him though; maybe he's tripped, or maybe this house has something magical about it, or maybe there's a sneeze from those bushes or behind that fence. But he's trying very hard for a clean getaway!]
B. - Anywhere
[That was better. It was a bit strange how he felt so much better after leaving his notes; less tired, so much less that it was noticeable. He's going to walk home quickly though; he definitely understood he was a target for othe-- Oh, that was a nice cloud in the sky.
Maybe he's a little less focused than he hoped. And he'll definitely be helping anybody in need.]

The more obvious obstacles are the gardening implements and the formal-herb-garden-in=progress. ]
Hello?

[ At that moment, a rather large suitcase appears beside the prankster. ]
no subject
He didn't really want to play this game anyhow.]
plllllaceholder tag oops
You're kidding me. Do they really think I'll fall for that...?
[Excuse her while she toes the box to the side and starts looking around the front yard for some trace of the supposed prankster.]
awesome. . .
no subject
Instead, he skims the note with a frown...and then looks up, scanning the area for the sender.]

no subject
Oh no. . .
no subject
You... You're...
no subject
I don't think you should be getting up! I really don't think you should! Please relax and I'll call. . . or well, there must be a car around here. . .
[Panic panic panic if he had his powers he'd just fly the animal out of here but for now he's just going to make sure the other doesn't get up.]
no subject
[Shadow manages to get that much out, with effort.]
Tell me your name.
no subject
[He'll start taking off his light jacket.]
[1/2]
Keith Goodman...?
[Shadow rolls over onto his back...]
no subject
He smirks.]
Gotcha.
[He squeezes the bottle tight, ketchup squirting up at the King of Heroes.]
no subject
[It takes a moment for the ketchup bottle to register, between the worry he'd felt for this animal and the burning of somewhat acidic tomato ketchup in his eyes. He'll wipe it away from his eyes a bit frantically.]
Ah! Hnngh, ow. . .
[It's a moment before he can crack a watery eye at Shadow, ketchup smeared just about everywhere. Another talking animal, just like Mamizou, and that pony talking on the phone.]
I'm so glad you're not injured. I was worried, very worried.
[Shadow gets the most serious and sincere hero-face - as serious as it can be covered in ketchup.]
no subject
[After a moment, the weird green spots along his fur have dissolved away, and his vision's less clouded. No more nausea. No more headaches. Everything that had been ailing Shadow for the last day or so is gone.
He shoots up to his feet.]
I'm feeling much more refreshed.
no subject
[While he sounds sincere, the watery, slightly pained smile isn't convincing. At least the tears will wash away the ketchup. He's not crying, but man, that stings.]
phone; is this okay?
Totally fine!
919 Bilko, here. This is Keith.

[But since Karkat is still talking, he'll stop and listen. . .]
I'm not really a policeman, but the town gave me that job. I'd be happy to help you, Karkat! Where are you?
no subject
no subject
[Yes he will stoop to pick them up. He's just that kind of guy.]
no subject
Oh, yes, thank you!
[And she doesn't pass up the opportunity to throw one of the water balloons at him when he ducks down to pick them up.]
no subject
. . . that-that must have been a prank, right?
[He'll shake some of the water off slightly. He still has her oranges in his arms.]
no subject
no subject
That was quite a plan; I think you must be very shrewd!
no subject
You compliment the person who just soaked you with colored water? Why don't you keep the oranges, I don't think I'll be needing them anymore.
no subject
Thank-you, and again, thank-you for these!
[He'll give her a wave, happy.]
I'm sure to enjoy them with all I have!
no subject
Okay. I guess I'll see you around then.
[She returns the wave, although it's not has happy.]
