drnaa (3) - spring is in the air

[There hasn't been snow on the ground in almost a month, and the weather is getting just a bit warmer each day. Drones have been babbling that today marks the beginning of Spring, which means that all of the winter weather crap is behind them. While the almost-robotic way the weather shifts between seasons creeps Rikku out a bit, she has to admit that the change is more than welcome.

Today, she can be found outside doing one of the following things:]

A: Front lawn of 1767 Beaver Street
[Rikku is sitting cross-legged in the midst of some scrap metal and electrical parts that she's helped herself to from both her own house and various other places around town. Drones don't really need this stuff, right?

She isn't paying much attention to passers-by, instead concentrating on her tinkering. Currently, she's taking things apart and trying to put them back together. That way, she knows how they work when she inevitably uses them to build something larger.]

B: Mayfield High School
[Class is for suckers, and more often than not it bores Rikku to tears. As such, she's brazenly cutting class and sitting on the football bleachers with the food she's packed for lunch. She even waves to people as they walk by and offers to share her lunch.]

C: John Doe Park
[Rikku is barefoot and her pants are rolled up past her knees. There's water all over the place as she flails, and she's screaming/whining about the temperature. Stepping into cold water elicits a certain reaction when you're not really expecting it.

She's just learned the hard way that it's still a bit too early in the season for wading in the pond.]

[Cutting class, cutting work, responsibility is for suckers and Snow, like Rikku, is no sucker. She's sure to spot this scruffy guy loitering around campus, and when he catches sight of her at the bleachers, he gives her a friendly wave.]

[Snow heads up the bleachers, plopping down next to Rikku on the bench as if it were his personal lounge.]

[It could be said that Rikku was a bit of a bad influence on Gohan, because before he met her, he wouldn't have even considered skipping a class. His attendance record was SPOTLESS up to this point...but, there was just something about the nice day that causes him to shrug his shoulders and make his way to the bleachers, leaping up to the top and then walking down to meet up with Rikku.

He will flop down next to her, his brown bag opened as he reaches in to grab some food.]

We're going to get into a LOT of trouble with this.

W-woah! [His superhuman abilities still manage to astound her.

She recovers quickly, however, and gives him a smile.]

We'll be fine! What's the worst they can do to us? We showed up for the morning, didn't we?

[Gohan really doesn't even realize that most people can't do the sort of things that he does, so her comment breezes over his head.

He does reach in and grab a sandwich out of his bag. For all the crazy that Professor Doof is, the guy's actually pretty good at preparing food.]

...Well, that's true. It's not like the teachers will drone us, is it?

[He does look kind of worried about that thought.]

[Varon didn't want to be in the cafeteria this time. The nice weather the day offers is certainly a welcome change. Cutting class is an an option he actually chooses not to do since he has more fun messing with drones than being by himself to pass the time.

He steps onto the football field and shakes his head. To think that he actually enjoys soccer is something he didn't come to expect in this place but it has its benefits. With his own lunch in hand, he sees Rikku on the bleachers and is she waving at him?

His brow lifts and looks around. He doesn't see anyone else so it would be silly to assume that there are others here too. He jumps onto one of the benches and then toward the bleachers, landing on the third step before he makes his way up.]

I don't know you. Why did ya beckon me?

[Rikku shrugs.]

I was just being friendly.

Here, want an apple?

[She holds it out to him. It can't hurt to try and make a new friend, right?]

[He nods and takes his seat next to Rikku, accepting the offered apple.]

[He presses his fingertips at the core center and pulls it apart.]

[ Kyo stopped what he was doing to shout in the general direction of Rikku. Except... ]

Hey, that's not a pool!

And a pond is a pool of water, so why can't I wade in it? It's not like we have a real lake or even an ocean here.

[Miakis has the same idea today - except rather than wading, she's just dipping her feet in the water. It's still pretty cold, but not quite as shocking.

She quietly watches Rikku out of the corner of her eye, but after a few moments of watching the younger girl flail about, she can't help but burst out laughing.]

Yeaaaah, I think it's a little too chilly for that~

[Moving with a decided lack of grace for the moment, Rikku starts trying to shake her legs dry.]

You can't blame me for trying!

[Her voice has a certain whining quality to it.]

[Zidane's also cut class. Fuck lessons he got a decent enough education from Baku so there was no point in school for him except to not get droned. When he spots Rikku waving at him while he is deliberately avoiding his lessons, he grins and waves back.]

[Rikku looks up from her work and blinks a few times in confusion--she was interrupted and it takes her a second to figure out why. Once that passes, she smiles.]

Not really. The technology here is kind of different from what we have back home, so I'm just trying to learn it.
