[ It's September and so that means Conan's back in Elementary, which means he's tried again to explain to his drone teacher that 'Duck and Cover' is pointless and only gave in when he was threatened with a note home to his parents-that was the last thing he needed. ]

[ It also means he has to face elementary music class. Generally, he'd choose to stay in the back of the class so no one could tell he wasn't really singing but this time a seating chart foiled his plan and his request to to be moved was denied. So he's sitting near the front and it's been made perfectly clear that faking it isn't going to cut it this time. ]

[ Apologies to anyone nearby him- he's tone deaf. ]

[ Guess what happens when you can easily recognize any pitch but, try as you might you just can't replicate it? Yeah, that's right-no one believes you're tone deaf. Which is why Conan ended up with a note home anyway. For some reason or another they thought he was intentionally disrupting the class by pretending to sing badly. He's more than a little unhappy and immediately hunts down a mystery book to indulge in. ]

Ne, I was just wondering-after what happened last week and since we got Grey-san's message... does anyone else think that he might have been why Mayfield was having trouble staying solid?

Did they give you any trouble for this ridiculous excuse for 'disruption'?

Sending me home with a note is already more trouble than I'm willing to deal with. Although, I guess it still beats getting smacked every time I get a note off key. [ Yes, that actually happened. ]

Well, after she was almost the victim of a murder case I can't really find it in me to hold a grudge-however I've lost all appreciation for music because of her-well all except for the violin, of course. [ You know, since Sherlock Holmes plays the violin ]

I thought that maybe he was trying to hack the system so he could make those holes he talked about back in July. Guess that was pretty silly of me.

It's quite possible he may have added to it! However the town has itself been...malfunctioning I suppose you would say for a while! Since at least January on a constant basis.

Oh, I already know about that. The town hasn't been right since that revival mechanism thing got blown up, right?

...But... something about that still bothers me...

It bothers me as well. Though I expect for different reasons.

Really? The thing that's bothering me is that we all heard the exact time and day Mayor-san would leave the Dairy unlocked but not any other part of the conversation-just that little bit.

That's quite a coincidence isn't it? I mean, it can't be that someone wanted us to hear that.

So what bothers you about it?

A possibility but there phone systems have always been faulty. I've assumed it to be a product of the town continuing to deplete itself but I suppose outside sabotage is possible!

I'm more bothered by the fact that people regret that they had destroyed it. It's foolish to me to regret the one victory you truly achieve.

I know they've always been faulty but it seems like a really lucky break to get information like that. Also too, I heard that Mayfield went directly from January tenth to January sixteenth, is that true?

Well, I still think it would have been better to investigate it before destroying.

We've been getting information that way for at least a year, however.

Yes, it is. Which was shortly before they attempted to fix the machine.

In the end yes, you're correct. It would have been far more beneficial to have found out more about the machine and it's nature before destroying it. And yet it was the first time we've shown we can hurt the town!

I would call that a success.

You don't find that at all suspicious? If useful information leaks once it can be a coincidence, twice it pushing it, but after three times it should be obvious someone has had a hand in it.

January sixteenth is the day I arrived here. I remember it well because of the blaring sirens-sirens that were coming from the dairy. I don't think they would've sounded if someone like Mayor-san or even the milkman knew what was coming-those sirens were really annoying.

Well, no sense in moping about the past, I guess.

Do you mean aside from how faulty the town is to begin with? It's not impossible but with the general incompetence of those running the town it isn't hard to believe.

I have no doubt they didn't know what was coming. I doubt the Mayor actually knows what's happening to begin with. It's not as if he has any true power.

Has any information that's been leaked been completely useless? If it's only been useful information then I don't care how faulty Mayfield is, that's really suspicious.

No, Mayor-san is trapped in this same as we are-he just has a little bit more information I'm sure we'd all like to hear about. I bet he could tell me who Charles-san is-or was, maybe... I also bet he's one of the original survivors.

...Oh, another thing I don't really get, Why did Grey-san call them holes? They were clearly portals, right? So only someone that had never heard of Portals would call them holes.
