[ Uh yeah, so Steve is waking up next to a drone for the first time and falls out of bed because hey, wasn't he in 2012 a second ago? And wasn't he, you know, taller? He's going to do the right thing this time, which is not freak out and tear a hole through the wall, probably because it would kill him to do so.

Instead, he will walk downstairs and snoop around and-- there's a picture of him on the wall, smiling, with his 'wife' and two kids.

He sees a rotary dial on the phone and he picks up to call numbers he remembers from 2012. And then numbers he remembers from 1943. And then zero. And then hangs up and goes to rifle through anything he can find in the shoeboxes of the downstairs closet to tell him where he is and why he's there.

Have fun waking up to your new dad sifting through files all over the kitchen table. ]

[ He doesn't believe this for a second. But this isn't just any sort of thing; he's small again. Someone's trying to make him forget. So he walks around town, because the one thing he needs right now is to get out of town. ]

Excuse me. Do you know the way to the train station?

Over a year and no way out... Has anyone been close?

Not as far as I know. Clues here 'n' there, but the people behind this place are pretty good at keeping things close watch.

We can beat them at their own game, if we work together.

Easier said than done. They brainwash people. Step out of line and they'll do it. Hell, half the time they do it for no damn reason.

Then we'll find a better way to hide it from them, and keep information in separate places. We'll make it so that no one person can be traced to everything. We just have to work out a system.

There's some people who claim to have a "resistance" group. I don't know who's in charge of those, though, and the phones ain't safe. I don't like this assholes pushin' people around as much as anyone else, but... workin' against them is tricky. Ya'd definitely need a system.

Then I'll work on that. It's safer to meet in person, anyway.

[ For once he wishes he'd gotten to know all that... technology stuff a bit better. ]

Sometimes I wonder if I oughta get involved. I was never much for working with a group, though.

Well, I can't make you do anything, but I'm sure we could use your help.

[She shrugs lightly.] Maybe. I dunno. Tell ya what - if ya manage to talk with the so-called resistance, let me know who it is. I'll at least hear 'em out once. Name's Barton, by the way.
