(( →This is Conan as he would be if Conan and Shinichi really were two separate people. He still retains his genius intellect and ability to string fact together and he's just as observant. In this AU Shinichi Kudo is working diligently on a case that has endangered the lives of Conan's parents. In order to keep their child safe from harm they entrusted him into Shinichi's care and the teen age detective politely asked Ran if she would watch over the kid while he was away on a case.

Ran doesn't know of the dangerous case that Shinichi's on and Conan often feels guilty that he knows more about the case than she does. He also has had a crush on Ran every since the moment he laid eyes on her. He's much more of a trouble magnet in this AU as he doesn't not have the life experience that Shinichi has.

As a warning, we will get into EVERYTHING. He loves playing detective. ))

[ When Conan awoke this morning he felt decidedly different. He couldn't quite put his finger on what but made a mental note think on it later. After getting Holmes-san some delicious cream he let himself out of the house and went straight to park to see anyone was around to play. ]

[ Instead he finds a set of footprints with which to practice his deduction on. Let's see... this person steps on the inside of their heel, most likely a woman's judging by the size and shape of the print... ]

[ Don't mind the seven year old stooped over the footprints with a magnifying glass. ]

[ After the mystery of the footprint Conan finds himself moving through town in search of more minor mysteries he can practice his deduction skills on. ]

[ A girl! ...did she make the foot prints? ]

What a nice little ambition. [Which she says while dragging her heels in the dirt. So much for getting a look at any other possible footprints by her.]

[ Awww. He'll try and get a better look anyway. ]

Live? [A pause.] Your guardian worked there, I assume?

Mmhm! He's a famous detective!

And was he teaching you how to be one?

Well... not him. Shinichi-niichan is the one that taught me about being a detective.

Hey, Conan-kun, what are you doing?

[Haruhi hasn't seen this kid in a while, but hey, a former neighbor is still a former neighbor! And is genuinely nice. Besides, Haruhi adores kids.]

[ Focusing on the ground... and then on Haruhi's foot. ]

Did you make this footprint Haruhi-neesan?

I don't think so. I didn't step on the ground that hard...

[Or so she thinks.]

Hmm... are you sure?

[ Circling around her to get a look at her foot. ]

I'm pretty sure!

[She places her hands on her hips confidently before staring at the footprint.]

Besides, how long ago was this print made, anyway? It doesn't look fresh.

Ah-um... [ ...Good question. He moves back over to the print to look at more closely. ]

...possibly a day ago? Maybe two..

One or two days ago, huh.

[Well. That means it's not important.]

Doesn't that mean that the person who made the print is most likely gone by now? It could even be a drone!

It could be.. But I think the drones all have the average size shoe for an american-in the case- woman. Which... would be about six and half to seven.. I think.

This print is smaller.

But that's only the 'normal' drones, right? What the people who used to be here that got droned?

[Since she's pretty sure that Yuki (and some other people) have... small feet.]

Hmm... that's true.

[ BRB INSPECTING THAT PRINT WITH A MAGNIFYIN' GLASS ]

But if you're trying to investigate something, it's probably not worth investigating that footprint, really.

[Better to investigate Mayfield itself and its real mysteries.]

[Gumshoe is passing through with Missile, catching the inquisitive stooped over something with a magnifying glass.]

Oh hey there kid! Is that a magnifying glass? Man, you're really working hard to become a detective alright!

Of course I am! I'm going to be the best one!

That's great! You know I never gave up on my dreams to be a police detective either? It took a few tries, but I made it, and I've been doing my best at it ever since! Perfect example of how, as long as you stick to it, you can accomplish what you want.

[ What was that? He totally missed it in his pursuit to find the girl that left the footprint. He's over by the swing now. ]

[Oh, well, that's okay, he's enthralled in his work, so it's understandable that he wouldn't listen to Gumshoe's asides. In a way, it kinda reminds him of when he's working with Mister Edgeworth.

Still, he's curious what he's doing so he follows behind to see if he can notice what clues he's looking at.]

So just what are you examining anyways?

I'm practicing my detective skills!

[ That... wasn't exactly the question but damn it! He's proud of himself. ]

[Gumshoe wonders if something is out of place, but then again, the last time he talked to Conan, he remember him standing on his head looking at a sign, so this just might be normal.]
