[Mom Lalonde sounds almost distracted today, or perhaps just bored.]

I have a proposition for any interested young people who may wish to take on a job after school. I wish to hire a personal assistant to aid me in several small projects I plan to undertake in the near future.

[She pauses, for a sip of her drink.]

Nothing of particular importance, just something to occupy my time. The job will entail taking dictation, some light filing, and running simple errands. Compensation is negotiable, but intended to be more than adequate.

[She takes a thoughtful sip of her drink.]

And what did you do back in your world?

"I was a guide." Eh? "I was a construct created and tied to a blade known as the Goddess' sword, now 'Master Sword'. It was my duty to guide the wielder through the journey as predicted, be it through the dowsing of various objects or the translation of the ancient language. In musical terms however, its relevance lies in the translation of specific pieces of song created to aid in this effort. Unfortunately, as I am not in my former body, I am unable to do most of these things- however, I still vow to be of service in any way possible. I have not lost my ability to observe- nor have I lost my ability to record, or think."

[She's intrigued. It sounds vaguely like the role of a sprite in Sburb.]

And precisely who was it that gave you that assignment?

Indeed it does, doesn't it- and it's quite similar too. "She who created me- the Goddess Hylia of Hyrule. Upon completing my duties I was to sleep within the blade itself- it was from that sleep that I was taken here."

Sounds awfully dull. She could have at least given you a standard two week vacation.

Well, I suppose now is as a good a time as any to discuss the practical side of things. What about your availability? Do you have an official 'job' as far as the town is concerned?

There's no reaction to the week vacation note- well... A small sliver of confusion might be made out, but otherwise no reaction.

"I have no current duties outside regular attendance to the 'Highschool'," she answers clearly.

And may I ask what precisely it was that interested you about this position?

[Mom is curious, because this girl seems almost emotionless.]

[[Side note, she is CAPABLE of emotion, just... Clueless as to how that works. So she's more reactionary at the moment. xD]]

Well, she certainly used to be...

"Dication and filing seem to be things that I am able to manage well," she response.

And then, after a brief pause. "...Additionally, since coming here, I have been unable to cease thinking of the fact that my duties in my realm were completed... I was in the midst of an eternal sleep at the time." ...In all honesty Fi, you actually do sort of sound upset there.

You also sound like a bit of a work-a-holic. Or something.

Hmmm, well you do sound like a very responsible young lady.

[And potentially fun to troll. That's always important.]

And I can certainly offer training in any areas you might be unfamiliar with.

What would you consider to be adequate compensation for your time?

Very fun to troll. Very EASY to troll as well.

She bows her head somewhat, nodding. "The experience alone is more than adequate- Truthfully, I feel that as much aid as I give will aid myself as well."

...Given who Fi is, this is not coming to be a surprising fact...

[She raises an eyebrow, amused.]

You ought to learn to accept whatever windfalls come your way.

How about this? I think the minimum wage in the fifties was around a dollar an hour. I'll give you double that. Is that acceptable?

[Since regaining her wealth from home, Mom could actually afford to pay her much more, but wants to see if she'll try to haggle.]

The numbers run through her head, and mentally are compared to the prices of items through the town. Things such as paper, pencils... Things required for school, or otherwise, and she nods her head after deciding.

"That is more than acceptable," she states. Well...

Compared to a former pay of nothing, that makes sense really...

Good. Since that's settled, we'll begin job training immediately. Follow me.

[She gets up and heads back into the the kitchen.]

She nods, following behind in silence.

[When she reaches the kitchen, Mom will put two bottles on the counter. Then a jar of olives.]

First thing you'll have to learn is how to mix a passable martini.

[A lot of this is just testing the boundaries of what she'll question and what she won't.]

They consist of three basic ingredients. Gin, vermouth, and olives.

"Understood." Um. "I regret to say however that while I recognize 'olives', I am unfamiliar with what Gin and Vermouth are."

...They're something that you shouldn't be legally drinking, that's what. Then again, it's not likely she'd question alcohol anyways- she isn't exactly from a world where that particular law comes in.

Gin is a spirit flavored with juniper berries. Vermouth is a type of wine infused with and herbal concoction. It is mixed with one part Vermouth and three parts gin. Stir and add an olive, and you have the standard drink.

Think you can manage that?

She nods. Drinks weren't particularly 'interesting' in the Islands of the Sky admittedly, though that may have just been Link's choice at the bar...

"I believe so." She likely will too, precise as she is about things.

Good, now what I typically drink is a slight variation on that. Slightly less vermouth and a bit of olive juice. It's generally called a dry and dirty martini.

There are some people who prefer the same drink made with vodka and and shaken instead. Those people have probably never tasted the proper version.

Blink. And then a nod. "Understood; I will make certain not to forget this."

Good, then I think we'll get along just fine.

Now, how much do you know about astronomy?

"In regards to the stars of my realm, I could describe their very origin," she begins. "However, in regard to the subject of such things in other realms, I am unfortunately lacking in knowledge."

That's quite alright. I ask because the first thing we will be doing is making a chart of the stars visible from Mayfield.

Ah...

A nod. "I will gladly assist." ...This could move rather interestingly when her flight is regained.

Good, let's go upstairs.

[She picks up her drink and gestures toward the stairs.]
