[ With every step the small detective takes it becomes more and more apparent that he hasn't slept much the night previous. He's practically dragging himself up to the school. He may have just had a bad night or maybe he stayed up too late with his experiments or note taking. ]

[ It doesn't matter what he spent the night doing, the point is he's far too tired to notice a familiar kitten trotting after him like he's its mother. ]

[ Something he hasn't done in a while is wander around town to make note of all the recent changes in either the residents or the town it's self. So feel free to notice a little boy with a note pad out scribbling things in on occasion, stopping to look things over and then continuing on his way. ]

[ Once again, he fails to notice the kitten following eagerly behind him. It stops when he stops and starts walking again when he does. ]

Ah-it isn't that-I mean-It's not that I don't like cats-just I wasn't expecting to see him.

Maybe you should be. It looks like he's quite attached to you.

Do you know if he has a home? It'd be rather sad if he doesn't, right?

[ He looks thoughtfully at the kitten ]

I'll ask over the phone tonight. But until someone claims him, I guess I can look after him.

That's probably a good idea. Although...

... He probably wouldn't be welcome here for now.

...Probably not. If I leave him on his own he might try climbing a tree again.

[ Hmm... what to do with the kitty? ]

....I think someone might notice if I put him in my backpack.

I usually leave empoleon outside. Perhaps she could watch over him for us while we're in class.

[ patting her penguin!... drones usually treat her like a dog for some reason so hey. ]

Ah, sure I guess the cat's too small to pose any kind of threat to-well.. anything. [ He watches as the kitten rolls around on its back. ]

[ awww. she leans down to scritch it a little. ]

I'm sure you'll behave, won't you?

[ The cat just meows happily at the attention ]

...If I didn't know any better I'd almost think it understood you.

You mean that they can't? Pokemon can, after all...

Not completely. Usually, with dogs at least, you can train them to do a few tricks but cats tend to be more independent and less likely to listen.

I see.

[ a pat a fond smile for empoleon as she lingers outside the gates. ]

I'll trust you to take care of him until we get back, empoleon.

[ Because Conan is actually an animal lover he'll kneel down to gently scratch the kitty's ears before getting back to his feet. ]

We better hurry if we don't want to be late.
