[ Jeez it felt like days since Marty last slept. He probably could get away with sleeping all the way until the afternoon but a part of him was pushing him to at least pry one eye open. The last thing he remembers was taking the DeLorean back home with the Doc but everything else is just one huge blur in his head. Chalk it up to getting your atoms scrambled on a near constant basis. Maybe that's what he needed, sleep it off a little more. That subconscious of his seems to have the right idea, it really does feel like he's sleeping on a full size mattress fit for two.

Yeah... just a few more minutes.

But as he shifts from beneath the comforters, something feels kind of off. His eyes finally flutter open that this...is definitely not his bed. Now that reality has caught his attention, his eyes are now wide open and shoots up from bed. ]

[ Okay so Mayfield, right? Now he just needs to get a date on this place. The newspaper was able to tell him that much but the full year is scratched off. Great. Nineteen fifty-what? Every page he flips, the printed year appears to be nonexistent. Like something purposefully redacted it from the print. Nah, it can't be right. He just needs to get his hands on a better copy. If you're up and about enjoying your daily routine, don't be alarmed if there's a kid near your front yard, opening your trash bins for old newspapers. ]

I'll admit doesn't seem like that much time has passed but then I've been more busy in these four months with my scientific studies, then those late nights at the lab back home. Not to mention having a few assistants.... Are you alright?

[ Give him a minute. Marty needs to take a few steps away and take a breath. ]

Christ you've been missing for four whole months....

[ This is heavy, man. Real heavy. Alright. Look on the bright side. It can't be that bad. Emmett's finally got the chance to be the scientist he wants to be but here? Why here? ]

[Emmett observes you 'Harry' and probably not grasping how horrible his timeline has been altered because of this place]

[ 'Science is your true calling' is what he wanted to say but it'd be best to hold back his tongue. He already gave on too much, god knows what this Emmett knows being exposed to 20-years of progress. ]

I'm just afraid I might have lost something.

Lost my interst in science? That's preposterous! Sure I may have subsidized that around my father but nothing could take my craving for knowledge.
[Look at that twinkle in his eye as he stares beyond 'Harry' for a moment. Holding his books close to him. They'd have to reconfigure his whole personality and snaps back]

[He pauses to think] Fran was rather disconnected a few hours ago. Not sure how long she plans on relaxing.

[Emmett hand motions to follow and begins to walk towards 1671 Nelson Street.]

[ He winces. Bestest poker face in all of Mayfield. ]

[She hears their talk of Einstein as she jogs up behind them on her way back from her training at the park.]

Riveting indeed. Just the idea that Energy and mass could possibly be related and equal to each other - [Noticing Harry's experssion and before Emmett gets a chance to comment on that even, another distraction!]

[ You got lucky their, Harry Callahan. Any second longer talking about the intricate details of mechanical science and you would have had Emmett doing a double-take. ]

[She looks from Emmett to his new friend.]

Yes, for some reason, the town decided to put us in the same house. Drones seem to think he's my son.

[Emmett nods to Harry]

[Then nods to Olivier] If anything should get messy, I'll take care of that.

[There's a quite a smile on Emmett's face, he doesn't seem to be complaining on the random assigning]

Oh I get it, that whole family thing this town thinks we're in. So you guys are like roommates.

Don't worry, I'll make sure nothing gets out of hand.

[She nods.]

You could call it that, but he's become a good friend, so if you hurt him...

[She trails off, giving him a hard look. Yes, over protective momma!bear mode activated, even if she won't quite admit it.]

More like this town thinks she's my temporal displacement mother.
[But he seems fine with that]

But both of you need to stop focusing on what can go wrong. Obviously, things will go wrong but that's how you learn from your mistakes.

[ There's a twinge of worry in his eye. That light layer of a lie isn't helping the situation at all. But how was he supposed to know that this was the Emmett from a different timeline? Hopefully, he'll understand.

So this is it, huh? You have any drones living here too?

Good. And, even if things are bound to go wrong, it doesn't have to involve you getting hurt, Emmett. A good general always has a back-up plan for if things go wrong, even if the back-up plans never need to be used.

[End of subject for her.]

We don't have any drones in our house right now, but sometimes people don't stick around for long, and you're left with a drone of them until someone new takes their spot.

[Emmett was going to say there are many probabilities that one could be prepared for, some more unlikely then the next and could cause you to look like horribly paranoid and you should just hope for the best but it sounded like the discussion was over by the tone of her voice]

[Emmett does notice the bit of worry in 'Harry's eyes but then Olivier was a bit scary sometimes]
