Oh no. No, today is different. This is St. Patrick's day. This is the day when Mom drinks while wearing green. She also has a festive little hat, tilted to one side at a jaunty angle.

She is also displaying a preference for green drinks today, just to get into the spirit of things. She's still wearing her pink scarf though. Join her?]

Hopefully, they do not cause it tomorrow. I am not particularly fond of the thought of having to deal with a disaster while hung over.

I wouldn't be too concerned. There are much more tempting holidays for the town waiting in the wings. April Fool's day is coming, after all...

[She frowns a little when she hears that.]

...How bad do the April Fools' jokes usually get around here?

I've no idea. I've only been in town a few months, after all. I'm just.... anticipating a show.

[answerer_sword]

[She sighs.]

Even when there are no town-manufactured disasters, there will always be a show around here.

[She stares down at her scarred right hand. She had done her best healing it, but the fingers still refused to move correctly. The injury had come about due to one of those "shows".]

By my count, the town only manufactures about half of the disasters that plague us.

Are you saying there are people who are behind the cases of contaminated food?

[pinkscarflady]

[She arches an eyebrow.]

No, I was speaking more generally. You may have already noticed, but the denizens of this town have a lamentable tendency to fight amongst themselves.

I actually had missed any mention of contaminated food aside from the milk.

I think it is mostly the ones who have no regard for the lives of innocents that cause most of the fighting.

I have encountered other cases. There are purple mushrooms that make you hallucinate and there are candies that make you turn into children.

Unfortunately there are quite a few of those types.

Hmm... how widespread are these mushrooms? How easy is it to acquire this candy?

I do not know about that for either one. I suffered from their effects because the drones in my house brought them home. Afterwards, I destroyed all the food in my house to avoid having to ingest such things again.

It sounds as if those are more likely things that were sent to specific people in the mail. Anything the town invents is hardly so subtle or easily dispatched.

I see. I shall have to do better in determining between the two. However, how did someone else's regain end up in my kitchen?

I can think of several ways. Most likely is that either the regain belonged to one of your housemates, or perhaps someone that they know.

[She shakes her head.]

At the time, I had no housemates.

Then friends and neighbors become the most likely suspects.

[answerer_sword]

[She shakes her head again.]

My friends and neighbors usually do not give me food.]

Then where precisely did you get them. And why would you eat something if you were uncertain of it's origin?

I did not get them. The drones might have. The contaminated food must have been mixed up with my usual food supply.

[pinkscarflady]

If I were you, I'd be a bit more careful in the kitchen from now on. And perhaps start doing my own grocery shopping.

[answerer_sword]

[She sighs.]

I already do so. It does not prevent the drones from poking and prodding my packages.

[pinkscarflady]

But I highly doubt the drones in your household are doing any of the cooking. Traditionally, such tasks were the sole purview of the lady of the household.

Just be careful with whatever ingredients you choose.

[answerer_sword]

I do cook. Frankly, it is more the pre-made foods that concern me.

[It did not help that sometimes, to spare herself the effort of making the meal, she simply bought pre-made food from the stores.]

If they concern you, or have given you trouble before, you may be better off doing without them.

[answerer_sword]

I have been considering that option.

[On one hand, it meant more effort and time spent in preparing food. On the other hand, there was less chance of infection.]
