I know not everyone here is from Earth, but today's Saint Patrick's Day and I for one am far too fond of Ireland to spend it sober. It's just disrespectful not to drink, really. [And she hasn't had a drink in forever, which just seems weird in and of itself.] So who's in for meeting me at the tavern? Wear green.

B: Olney's Tavern

[The beer here is awful, of course, but there'll be a peppy, slender blonde with a green ribbon in her hair ignoring the fact that women aren't "supposed" to be drinking and looking like she's trying to drink the whole town under the table. If she can get anyone to join her in a round or two of decent drinking songs, that'll be happening. It's only respectful, you know. Not that it's fun at all.

[America slides into a stool next to her at the bar, calling for a pint from the bartender and giving Canada a smile.]

Careful. Are you sure a little thing like you can handle her liquor?

[She grins a little to see him, already a few drinks in with another in her hands.] I'm not sure if I'd rather you said that because your brother is some sort of teetotaler or can't hold his liquor, or you're working on the assumption that I can't because I'm female.

[Talking to Canada on the phone would be silly when they live in the same house, is all. Incidentally she is not wearing green, and has no idea why she would be expected to do so.]

What's Saint Patrick's Day?

[mounties]

It's a celebration for old Saint Patrick, who was very dear to Ireland, back in the day. Since he basically revolutionized things for the Isle, it's tradition for the family to do the proper Irish thing and remember him with lots of drink and shamrocks. A lot of my people are Irish, back home.

Oh. But what does that have to do with wearing green?

[mounties]

It's Ireland's colour. So it's a sign of respect.

[ooeeooahah]

Oh, Meg - I gave up alcohol for Lent! But I'd be happy to be the DD for everyone!

[mounties]

How American of you not to observe the proper tradition of Saint Patrick being more important than Lent.

I'm teasing, of course. If you want to come and help me make sure everyone gets home safe, you're certainly welcome.

[ Ilsa blows a soft raspberry at the first statement. ] Better to make sure everyone survives without anything worse than a hangover. I'll be there.

[Canada just giggles, apparently in a good mood today.]

[He didn't really have any special affection for Ireland, but the fact that Canada put that bow in her hair, looked so nice, and wanted to go to the tavern was all he needed. So he'd gladly wear an orange polo with a small green stripe in it and join her, already having finished a beer. Any of the drones or employees who give her a look with get such a glare, his meanest one.

He looks back at Canada, the traces of one of those glares still on his face.]

[mounties]

[Well, then, she'll just frown right back at him.]

You don't have to stay if you're not enjoying yourself.

I'm fine.

[He'll look a little surprised, not realizing the frown he had been wearing, so not expecting her to frown.]

You wanted to come, right?

[The rule for an Irishwoman, even one as uptight and technically British as Bazett, is to squeeze in as many drinks with as many different people at possible on Saint Patrick's day. This is why she is currently at the tavern, waiting to buy more drinks.]

[She glances at the girl next to her. The alcohol and the festive mood have made her a bit more open than usual.]

[With that, she kicks back another glass of whiskey.]

[He gets a grin and a wink for that, because she's friendly even when she's sober, so when she's more than a few drinks into "pleasantly buzzed" territory, everyone gets her attention.]

[ Ilsa is circulating in the group, singing along when someone starts a song, but not drinking anything but water. Certain people also get a glass of water placed beside their primary drinks as she stops to talk to them.

It might be that it's taking her a while to work through the crowd, but there are a few people she hasn't talked to yet, and it doesn't look like she's going to be able to connect with everyone here tonight. You might need to drag her over to a conversation if she hasn't reached you yet. ]

[She's getting tugged over by the hand and greeted with a smooch to the cheek that almost certainly smells of the whiskey Canada has turned to when she got sick of that watered-down nonsense her sibling's house seemed to think was beer.]
