[He sounds like he was going to say more but then whatever words he had got stuck in his throat. He struggles for a little bit before simply putting the receiver down.]

[He is indeed at the church, all dressed up and everything. Part of him is hoping no one will show up, part of him is hoping that he can set a good example and not be an embarrassment for all members of the Church.]

Ash Wednesday is the b-b-beginning of Lent. I-it's a day of m-mourning and turning from s-sin. It was the f-first day J-Jesus started his f-forty day f-fast....

[Even with the calm air about her, he's still shaky in his placing of the ash cross on her forehead. However his reciting of the blessings are rather good, he's stuttering a little less and it is clear he knows what to say by heart.

And we'll just say he said all that was needed in those blessings in Latin without looking up what those exact blessings are.]

[ Ilsa is there, and after lighting a candle for her family, she checks to see if there is a service scheduled before approaching. ]

[It's mostly a service. The rituals are there, though perhaps not set up perfectly. It was like the person who arranged everything was doing it for the first time ever, though at least knew their steps well enough.]

Oh right it's Ash Wednesday isn't it. Back home the Agency just tacked along for the formalities and then it's pretty much whatever, that's what happens when you work for a branch that prioritizes power above faith. Still, she might not've been properly schooled but Ciel knows what she should be doing to help the preparations, at least.

That'd include soothing the poor Pope, wouldn't it... It's still a bit hard to believe that a nervous boy like him is the Pope in Cain, Abel and Esther's world, but who is she to argue. /rolls with!]

[The church looks good right now, having completely recovered from Caster's assault around a month ago. Still, Bazett cannot help but feel a little uneasy as she proceeds toward the entrance. Hopefully, there will be no more monsters.]

[He offered an awkward smile, but it was the awkward smile he used with friends. He had long ago learned to quickly recover from trauma, his life back home had been filled with a good amount of it after all. Usually a few days of sleep and rest got him functioning again.]

The trappings are all familiar though, if tinged a little too Catholic for her liking. God will forgive her for a great deal more than this. She approaches with a measure of respect, dressed to the nines herself for such an occasion.]

[He offers an incredibly nervous smile and lowers his head in greeting. There was a sense to this woman, he couldn't quite explain it. It was something familiar, familiar and intimidating.]

[Joshua drops in, as he always does. The pre-war displays are a little grand to him and the New Canaanites don't usually celebrate Ash Wednesday, but the Church is still a Church and he's curious about the voice offering 'blessings'.]

[The voice, if it hadn't been pretty obvious before, was a rather young looking boy. Despite being fifteen he looked closer to twelve. He was dressed in the ornate ropes of a pope and was indeed applying the mark of the cross and giving blessings. He also looked like he might faint any moment.]
