[It really was a big deal for him to speak up, and it had taken a lot of determination for him to come to this conclusion. He was almost ready to give in though, but in the back of his mind he asked himself what would his sister do.]

Um....

[Even if he had the resolve his voice was still very soft and hesitant.]

S-since it's A-Ash Wednesday... I thought... I d-d-decided.... I-I can bless anyone who w-wishes at the Ch-Church today....

[He sounds like he was going to say more but then whatever words he had got stuck in his throat. He struggles for a little bit before simply putting the receiver down.]

[He is indeed at the church, all dressed up and everything. Part of him is hoping no one will show up, part of him is hoping that he can set a good example and not be an embarrassment for all members of the Church.]

[A child. A child. It's a sight she does not expect as she arrives, having paused to light another votive beside its dwindling brother.

The trappings are all familiar though, if tinged a little too Catholic for her liking. God will forgive her for a great deal more than this. She approaches with a measure of respect, dressed to the nines herself for such an occasion.]

[He offers an incredibly nervous smile and lowers his head in greeting. There was a sense to this woman, he couldn't quite explain it. It was something familiar, familiar and intimidating.]

[She offers a respectful nod in turn, letting him do what he will. Though she doesn't smile, there's a lightening of her countenance to some degree, his nervousness a palpable thing. It's not her job to terrify children.]
