Thirteenth Miracle

[Ever since being taken to the factory and operated on, Lion has been scarce. Mainly because the operation locked him inside his own mind, believing that he was back home on the island of Rokkenjima with the dead bodies of his family and friends washing up on the beaches. He hasn't been able to see, hear or feel anything that's been going on in Mayfield.

Today, though, the nightmare has finally ended. Instead of being trapped on the abandoned island with no way of escape, Lion finds himself back in his assigned house in Mayfield, where he had eventually ended up by a stroke of luck. He feels dazed and rather tired, but he still picks up the phone. No use being kept in the dark.]

My apologies...but can anyone tell me what the current situation is? It looks like things have gone back to normal from what I can see, but I think I've missed several days here. I...suppose you could say my mind was elsewhere.

I took a shortcut.

There's plenty of those here, if you can find them. Sometimes new streets appear out of nowhere, though, so then it get difficult... [Lion heads into the living room, which thankfully isn't that far from the door.]

So long as no one minded me hopping their fences.

[That gets a small laugh out of Lion as he sits down on the couch.] Ah, so that would explain it. Do you do that often?

-Tir plops down as well. A nice, respectable distance.-

I helps to stay in shape, at least.

I imagine that it does. I try to stay in shape myself, although I've never hopped someone's fence before.

... Ever wanted to?

Well, there weren't really any fences where I lived, so I never exactly wanted to. But here in Mayfield...maybe. Once or twice, I guess.

That settles it then. Next time I go for a run, you're coming with me.

Alright. It wouldn't hurt to do something to keep in shape. I just hope I'll be able to keep up with you... [Because Lion is pretty sure that Tir is physically stronger than he is.]

Don't worry about keeping up. Just do your best.

Then I will. Maybe I'll get better at outrunning things when I have to.

Thinking practically, I see.

I like to think that I am. Still, running away isn't a surefire way of defending oneself, is it?

Discretion is the better part of valor. Only fight if you are assured of your ability to win.

...I see. Hopefully one day I'll be more assured.

Well... I could also help train you in the martial arts, hmm?

Oh? You'd do that for me as well...?

Well sure! I mean, if you're up for it...

...I would like that, actually. My aunt knows martial arts as well, and I meant to ask her to teach me, but unfortunately she was droned before I had the chance.

I can invite you out to the morning practices Tatsuki and I have.

Then I'd be happy to join you both.
