PARTY//ALL ACTION

[ OoC: Since it's an open party, please put in the header whether or not you're open to threadjacking.

Oh, and anyone who's previously met Steve is free to um, not recognize him, because he is noticeably... bigger. ]

[ It's right before noon on Saturday, and there are balloons tied to mailboxes all along Topper Street. If you've been reading some of the invitations on the street posts outside your house, you should know you're invited to an end of the summer block party! So come enjoy this extremely long post, sorry...!! ]

[ A: Food ]

[ There are a few tables set up on one of the lawns, with mismatched pots and plates from lots of families. It's done in a buffet style, so everyone should help themselves. Especially to a slice of pie, which there is plenty of! You can also bring some food to grill-- there are a few of those! ]

[ B: Tug of War ]

[ Steve grabs a cardboard box out from underneath a table... ]

Has anyone seen a long rope?

[ C: Sock Game ]

[ A bunch of socks (all clean!!) are placed in a line on someone's lawn, and two teams will have to throw them onto each other's side, kind of like dodgeball, but with socks. It's a lot safer. ]

[ D: Scavenger Hunt ]

[ There isn't really a prize besides bragging rights, but anyone who wants will have a sheet of paper they have to get other people to sign... Some of the categories are "Someone from a world that isn't yours", "Someone with a different eye color than yours," "Three people you've never met", and "Someone who lives at least two blocks away from you." ]

[ E: Face Painting ]

[ There's a little chair on Steve's porch, where someone (probably him) is sitting down with little jars of paint. Totally safe for skin, he checked. ]

What do you want to be?

[ F: Three-legged Race ]

[ So, they might have run out of strings to tie people's legs together, and Steve's come back from his closet, with a bunch of ties he does not ever want to wear. ]

[ G: Sponge Race ]

[ Down the street, there are four buckets. Two full and two empty, lines forming behind the full ones and sponges floating in either. People are discouraged from throwing the sponges at each other... ]

[ H: Freeze Dance ]

[ Thanks to Miku, we have a great overseer for the Freeze Dance, so when the music goes off, you'd better freeze, or you're out! ]

[ I: Apple Bobbing ]

[ I have no idea how anyone got a barrel for this, but there is one now. I'm not actually sure what the point of this activity is, as I've never found it amusing. ]

[ J: Chess ]

[ On someone else's lawn, chalk marks the boundaries for squares on a chess board. People are encouraged to have makeshift costumes to represent their piece and side-- and try not to argue too much about illegal moves! ]

[ K: Magic Tricks ]

[ Courtesy of Margot, there are some really cool magic tricks happening. Stop by and be awed! ]

[ L: Cleanup ]

[ Is anyone actually going to play this out? Whatever, it's an option. ]

[ M: Movie ]

[ So maybe there's a 60" flatscreen on Steve's porch somehow (thanks Quinn!), with blankets all strewn on the lawn and people encouraged to sit by others and make a few new friends. Someone ducks in and out of the front door occasionally to deliver fresh popcorn. ]

[Oh boy, oh boy! Food? Totally gotta get in on this. Sora's just piling his plate high as he goes through it. A piece of bread shoved in his mouth as he goes around trying to get more food.]

[Date's shown up with a pile of food already prepared, and is laying it out. He's also got an apron on him as well, pulled from the depths of Tanky.]

Call me Dr. BBQ.

[ Magic of any sort is going to draw Warren's attention. He's hanging back, watching intently for now. He remembers talking to this girl before, and it's interesting to see what she can do. ]

Astral how did you end up at this table what are you doing yOU LOOK LIKE YOUR FACE WAS PAINTED ALREADY-

As it is he's just standing there for a moment, with a fairly blank stare.

"...I am... Not sure. To be honest, this is unfortunately the first time I have seen anything like this... ...What is the purpose of this particular activity?" ~~Dear god he's as clueless as Thor-~~

Astral why did you bring the guinea pig-

[Yep, food. This is why Barton comes to all of your silly social functions, Mayfield. You guys sure do know how to cook. She'll be piling up a plate and looking things over. And maybe at what you're taking. that looks good. 8|a]

[Who even invited this guy. Elmer's standing on his square with a toy sword, and a baseball cap he slapped a piece of duct tape on and wrote KNIGHT with a magic marker.]

Come on! It's time to do battle!

[ There's more food being added to the tables, mostly Gulf Coast and Cuban recipes, with small cards near to tell what is in everything. ]

Hope I made enough chips....

[So Margot is going to be just a tiny bit less destructive with her showing off today. She's got a fire set up and is moving the smoke around into different shapes -- a pack of wolves running and howling at the moon, a large dragon fighting a tiny little knight, a ship fighting through waves.

She's taking requests.]

[Death has brought... a lot of baked goods. That's the thing about not sleeping]

Is there a place I can put this?

[Miku's spent a while looking for the perfect outfit, and has now shown up in this. And a guitar. Feel free to gawk at her, but once she starts singing, well, that's when the games begin!

And try not to move a muscle when she stops all of a sudden, otherwise, well, you know the rules!]

[So Sam is just hanging out and watching the movie. Occasionally he'll duck in and out as well to get himself some food, since he's already seen this movie, but otherwise he's somewhere near the back, making the occasional side comment and munching on popcorn.]

[Kaylee's testing the heft of a sock. This sort of improvised game is just the sort of thing they play on the border worlds.]

This is my kinda party.

[Someone snuck in while no one was looking, laden with a lot of food that she manages to squeeze into the open spots on the tables. A large platter of her signature chocolate and butterscotch chip cookies, a plate of something that looked like a crossbreed between said cookies and brownies, stuffed bell peppers, a plate of deviled eggs, some tuna salad, and a large plate of marinated meat just waiting to be grilled.

How she carried it all in is a secret, though she might have enlisted someone's help to get it there. Either way she's descending on one of the empty grills like she owns it, her tail wagging as she hums to herself, checking to make sure the heat is just right before getting to work like some kind of fluffy ninja.]

[Despite the characteristically grouchy look on Clover's face, she is helping herself to a bit of all the food - sometimes she seems particularly pleased, and her face even mellows out a little.]

A fuckin' party, I swear...

I still vote for that Star Wars thing.

[Silence couldn't help investigating the party; he's a bit of a social butterfly ~~and there will be no apologies for that pun~~. Given his own creative tendencies, he winds up gravitating toward the face-painting with some interest - though he's actually more interested in helping to paint than getting painted himself.

Steve will find himself approached by a remarkably attractive, somewhat androgynous man in clothing that seems more suited to the eighteenth century, though none of that is quite so remarkable as the blood-red eyes and the large swallowtail wings protruding from his back. But he merely looks curious, in a pleasant sort of way, though he says nothing; he simply flashes Steve a faintly inquisitive smile.]

(Chen will most certainly have a slice of the pie! Pie is delicious because it is sweet and yay sweets! So yes, there's a flying cat girl happily enjoying some apple pie. Delicious!)

And using magic water controlling powers is cheating, right?

[Looks like someone did want to give a hand tidying things up, after all. But it's really no trouble, as far as Dakki is concerned. She has already finished gathering up any left-behind containers and bowls and serving plates and setting them aside. Now for the slightly less fun task of going around with a garbage bag and picking up stray trash from around the yard.]
