event: don't you forget about me
[For those of you venturing into Mayfield's library today, you can find the head librarian hard at work at the front desk or shelving books. Most people who try to approach her will simply get a stern look and a reminder to keep their voices down.
If you happen to have something of hers though, you may get quite a different reaction...]
[OOC: This post is locked to characters who have a memento. Please do not reply if you don't have one. For those who do, you can go ahead and respond in any order; however, day 7's memento will be chronologically the last one she'll see.]

No, this isn't about the books here. Hasn't anyone else been here? Slackers...

No, but I should check this in with you, shouldn't I?
[ Whatever..... it is. Heather mentioned it might have music or files on it? ]
no subject
I don't...I don't know what that is. Is it some sort of jewelry all the kids are wearing these days?
no subject
Don't you have a computer? [ The last word is drawn out a bit. ]

[She pauses, a confused frown on her face.] I don't...I don't even know what a computer is....
no subject
Ugh, you really don't have one? I thought a computer would be here somewhere. It's a library after all.

[She stares at the twirling CD with annoyance.] Stop that, you're going to scratch it or worse.
no subject
Would you like to hold onto it for now? I can probably drag one of those idiots with a computer here and then we can finally hear what's on it.

...all right.

Until I'm back, that is?
no subject
O-of course we'll be alright!

You wanted to check this book out? Of course, just let me get my stamp.
[She reaches under the desk and pulls out a slim disc player, sliding the CD into it with a fixed smile on her face, obviously unaware of what her hands are doing. When the CD goes in, a song begins to play.

[He pauses in mid-sentence and glances in the direction of the music. He looked thoughtful for a moment.]
Say, what did you mean by... this is supposed to be the fifties? ... and what's a computer?
[A pause.]
Gee, for a library, I didn't know you were allowed to play music.
no subject
Aw gosh, Mr. Olney, don't pretend you don't like this song.
no subject
Huh... so you had that all along? [ Her voice is light as she listens to the music with her, humming along with it a bit. ] That's... huh? Is this one of Mr. Olney's favorites?
[ She can play along with that too. ]

Mr. Olney?
[He didn't see him anywhere, but looked over at Rin when she returned.]

Eh... Of course, Samantha. ... Yeah, her.

Of... course I did! After all, your... uh, playing helped set... the... mood?
