It's complicated, but when it happens, the town essentially lets go and the droned person goes back home. The droning victim returns home perfectly fine; think of it as the town making a mistake and occasionally letting some slip past them.

...it's very hard to say. Sometimes they can come back; sometimes they can't. New and old captives come in each month, but it's hard to say if anyone can come back.

Ah'm so sorry, Apple Bloom, Ah know it's hard to lose a friend like this, but try to take heart that she's okay and when we finally get home, you'll see her again.
