MK VII: Faulty Wiring

Pfft. Typical. Looks like the IT Department is under new management, Mayfield. S'what happens when you outsource your tech to Hades and/or wherever the hell else we are.

Anyone know what the deal is, here? I'm normally not one to let anything get me down, but gravity certainly brought me down through my living room floor this morning.

B || DAY || CUNNINGHAM LANE STREETS

[Tony's a man of science and tomfoolery. That's why he's phasing his hand in and out of his otherwise-solid-looking front door experimentally. Then he's sticking other limbs in there -- one foot, then the other... walk by at the right time and you might just see a bemused human head seemingly stuck in the door, looking about the area and curiously inspecting the clouds in the sky.]

[ She shakes her head and smiles a bit. ] Don't worry about it. I know I'm trying not to. I'll have things figured out, eventually.

I doubt it. But I'm sure you'll try. And that's the important thing.

[ Someone else might have taken some offense at the "I doubt it", but she realized something and laughed a bit. ] You're honest. I like that.

Well, honestly, I like your honesty. S'probably why we get along so well.
[He winks goodnaturedly.]

That, and the fact you're not afraid of me, haha.

[ She puts a hand on his shoulder. ] ...you're not, right?

[He's oh-so-very-tempted to shrug her hand off and scream in mock terror, but... something tells him this isn't quite the time for that joke. She seems more pensive today. Even a little vulnerable. So instead he laughs and wraps her in a one-armed hug.]

Hell no! Not in the slightest.

Good! [ One arm isn't enough of a hug for her. Heck, lifting Tony off of the ground isn't quite enough for Meiling, either. But it's a start. She laughs, giving him a grateful smile. ] I'm really glad you almost blasted me that day, Tony. [ ...which is one way to say that she's happy to have met him. ]

Well now! That's the sweetest thing you've said to me! ...Which is alarming, on one level.

[He puts a hand to her forehead.] You sure you're feeling all right?

[ At that concerned gesture, Meiling's smile takes an odd turn and she actually blushes a bit. ] Hmm, you're worried about me?

[......Wait. WAIT. Is... is she blushing? It's almost like he got his groove back...! He pinches himself surreptitiously, in the butt, winces and masks it with a cough. Yep. Still awake.]

I worry about you constantly. I thought that was obvious.

Constantly... [ She cocks her head a bit, leaning in. ] Do you think I can take care of myself?

[A small smile tugs at the corner of his mouth. He doesn't budge as she leans in closer, but turns to face her more directly.]
I do. But not as well as I would take care of yourself.

You're saying you can take care of me... better than... me? [ Did she follow that? Don't zig-zag so much, Tony, you'll lose her. ]

Well, yeah, meaning...

[....Screw it. Show AND tell. He reaches out with one hand, takes a light hold on the small of her back, tugs her up close and kisses her on the lips.]

[ Caught by surprise, Meiling isn't into the kiss at first. When she pulls back for a bit of air, though, she's smiling. ] ...ah. I get it.

[ And then she wraps her arms about him and leans in for a more purposeful, genuinely affectionate kiss. There. That's much better, isn't it? ]

[Yes. It certainly is. He was worried for a split second there.]

[He smiles through the kiss as she wraps her arms around his neck and, unbeknownst to her, pumps a fist beside his waist. I'm BACK, baby!! AND with a beautiful redhead. Who can FLY n' stuff, so he's definitely hit a homer this time. Personal best!]

[ Just as long as there are no "Enter the Dragon" jokes, things should be going pretty smoothly for Tony. Not that she would get the reference...

Pulling her lips away again, if only briefly, Meiling side-eyes the house. ] ...we should probably head inside. [ Eager? Something like that. It's more because if Remilia catches wind of this, there will be hell to pay, and if she's going to be selfish and enjoy this she isn't doing to drag Tony down with her. ]

Immediately. Posthaste.

[The guy is practically skipping. So don't be too alarmed when he bolts ahead to grab the doorknob, stumbles and... Fall-phases straight through it and into the hallway inside. He'll bolt up and dust himself off but the ego damage is done.]

STUPID---! Ahem. Right this way. (Watch your step.)

[ Meiling laughs quietly and hops through the door. ] Are you okay? [ She looks around. ] Hmm, is there anyone home? [ Odds of that stopping her are low, but it could be awkward for others.

Also, she looks up toward the ceiling. ] ...how is the stability of the rest of the house?

[He cups his hands and shouts:]

OH MY GOD, I JUST FOUND THE WAY OUT OF MAYFIELD!!

[He waits, peering around. No one comes running. Some drones walk by peering at him oddly.] Guess we're alone.

[ Meiling laughs. Loud. ] That's one way to do it! [ She moves past him toward the stairs, extending a hand for him after she passed. Yes it's his house, but— ] I'll go first and let you know if the floor is going to give out. [ Flying helps with that. ]

Excellent suggestion. Yeah. Go ahead. [He takes her hand and pulls himself up, disgruntled, but more alarmed. He... hadn't considered the whole floor situation. This could be...unfortunate.]

[ It could be, but if she has to do this in the basement just so there's no more floor to phase through, she will. Hopefully it won't come to that. ]

[He waits at the bottom of the stairs awkwardly, waiting to see the situation. He slicks his hair back with his hand a little and checks his teeth in a nearby reflection. Does he smell good? ...Yeah, he's ok, good.] What's the word, pretty bird?
