[Hey Beulah St. Hope you're enjoying waking up to sirens, because as soon as they fade, the screaming will start. Loud, high-pitched screaming that almost sounds like a panicked horse, actually, except that it doesn't stop right away.]

[Then a chair goes flying out the window]

What the fuck is this? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

[There may be a few who recognize the voice. In theory. It's far more emotive in a terrified sort of fashion than anyone ever has heard it before, and each outburst ends with a little whinny. The owner of this voice is also well known among his friends for being against swearing of all kind]

Highblood, please, oh god, are you there? What is this thing? Hello? Highblood, everything is wrong, where are you, oh gosh please tell me you're normal, oh, I can't bear the thought of your exquisite indigo... [he chokes] like this!

Please, come and kill me again, I don't want to be like this, I feel sick...

Of course they have. But you can't. If you try to just walk out, you'll suddenly appear on the other side of town, only walking in.

And if you do things that the people in charge don't like, they just drone you.

Hrn, spacial displacement... [He narrows his eyes, tapping his chin thoughtfully] I will have to speak with Maryam further, then.

Drone... I have heard this term mentioned, but no one has explained what that means.

[She looks at him curiously.]

Who is Maryam?

[Mindy never understood why people will mention drones, and then not properly explain what they are. It's really important.]

Drones are the people here who think this is all normal and that they've always lived here. They don't remember who they were or where they came from or anything. And if you break the rules, the town will make you one of them too.

Ah, Kanaya Maryam. She's one of my... [he hesitates to call her a friend, despite that being the word that's been becoming increasingly popular among the trolls. He doesn't feel that any of them actually like him] She's a troll, too. The Slyph of Space. She ought to know more about this sort of thing.

[He frowns as she explains, wrapping his arms around his knees and resting his chin on them] Is this a permanent state?

[There's too many trolls in Mayfield for Mindy to not have heard the term before, but this is the first time she's ever really sat down and talked to one.]

Sometimes it is. But not always. Usually people just remember everything in a couple of days.

I'm supposed to be, yes. [He holds up on hand, examining his palm and the cuts he obtained while handling with the broken glass of his window] This body is far weaker than I am used to. I think that I will wish to acquire weights, if I am to be here, like this, for long.

That sounds to be an acceptable risk.

[She gives a small gasp when she sees the cuts.]

What happened to your hand? Are you okay?

I'm fine. [he shrugs. They hurt, but so what? Pain was weakness leaving the body] I just cut myself on the glass from the window.

Are you sure? Doesn't it hurt? Do you want me to get you a band-aid?

[No, cuts are bad! What if it gets infected? She's so concerned.]

[He's never had a problem before? >> But then, he's never been human before, either]

It's just a cut. It will heal. [if he stops poking at it, anyway] If it makes you feel better, I suppose.

Okay, wait here.

[She's gonna run off and come back with a wet facecloth and some bandaids.]
