[Fran blinks as she awakens in her new bed. She rises slowly and groggily, and it takes her a moment before she realizes the changes. She pats herself all over, checking her skin, noting the lack of her usual parts.]

Interesting~ Stitches and bolts removed, no sign of surgical intrusion~ In fact, no evidence of any prior surgery at all~

[She finds herself a change of clothes in the closet and then sets about exploring the home, noting her presence in family photos.]

[After dialing a number and assuming it went through.]

Veronica~ Okita~ This is Fran~ I believe I've been kidnapped or otherwise taken by someone~ I'll let you know when I have more information, but the address I've found is 725 Anderson Lane, Mayfield~ I appear to be in America~ Veronica, please don't kill anyone or else I will have to punish you~

No, I do not believe I have ever been a "patient". Are you some form of doctor?

Yes, and a scientist~ I've been taking care of Professor Madaraki's lab and patients until he returns from his journey, though I have a number of patients and projects of my own~

[The girl is a genius by normal standards.]

I mostly work as a biologist~ I've performed numerous transplants and other surgeries~

[She's never let a patient die...even if they beg to afterwards]

Hmmm~ I've dealt with a few~ It depends on what the injury is and what the curse itself is~

Most curses can be traced back to psychological sources, or parasites~

What about magical parasites? Or some method of practicing magic that actually damages the body due to not channeling prana properly? The closest analogue to the case I am thinking of is someone working a transplanted organ to its limit, to the point that it damages the entire body.

I would still need more information and perhaps perform an examination~ What are the specific effects of the parasite? What is prana?

The...person in question has not regained their crest yet, so I do not know. An examination will likely not yield any useful information at this point. However, if you wish to examine how magic circuits and part of crests work, I can easily provide you with a sample. It would not be an exact analogue to the patient in question, but it is as close as I can find.

[The said "sample" being herself.]

Prana is the term for magical energy in my world, the unit by which magi can perform spells.

Examine the sample first. I would rather not have the patient damaged before you can find a definite cure.

Can you improvise surgical implements here? Or will you have to wait for a regain?

Well I've mostly been using the knives in the kitchen thusfar~ I also hear there are other scientists and doctors around, so perhaps I can borrow their labspace~

What do you mean 'regain'?

Your abilities and belongings are taken from you by the town upon arrival. If you exchange organs and memories in the post office, you can receive those abilities or belongings in exchange. Otherwise, you can wait for a major catastrophe created by the town to happen. In the wake of that, you will likely receive one or more of those things back. This...also applies to things you gave up at the post office. Those can be counted as regains.
