[Shortly after the mail's arrived, Mika can be found sitting on the porch, a package torn open near her feet and she has a worn, discolored satchel in her lap. Her gaze is distant as she holds a battered notebook in her hands, flipping through the pages without really looking at them.

Of all the things she could have gotten back, she hadn't expected them to return her bag.]

[The irritated scowl dissipates quickly and she huffs, her almost-smile returning faintly.]

[Her tail wags, unintentionally dusting the porch.]

[Nope. Can't stop staring at the tail. It's... It's actually kind of cute.] So... What's your deal, exactly?

What do you mean, "my deal?" That's kind of a vague question.

I mean... Are ya some kinda werewolf? Or just a plain... ol'... wolf-girl?

Just born like this. No fancy powers or anything, just the usual heightened sense of hearing and smell, and better night vision than a human's is all. That kind of thing.

For my species? Yes.

...Although, to be fair, my hair used to be solid brown.

So... Wait, Are there regular people and regular wolves where ya come from? And your kind's just... somethin' else entirely? Or...?

There's regular people and regular wolves, yeah. I don't know how it works, really. We aren't exactly historians, so what's documented is written by humans and a little...well, skewed.

[She raises an eyebrow.] Do normal people generally know ya guys exist?

[wolfishsurvivalist]

Yeah, it's not like in the movies, where we're some kind of underground society. I mean, back when we were first coming out of the forests, yeah we hid, but by now we've integrated into society pretty well.

[noluckduck]

Oh.

... Kinda thought maybe we were from the same place, for a sec.

[She snorts, her tail waving.]

Have werewolves or shapeshifters where you come from, then?

[noluckduck]

Yeah - well, I mean... [She groans.] No fuckin' clue, really. Apparently we have demons, and shit. Furry ones, too.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

[She huffs a laugh, her tail thumping against the porch.]

Furry demons? That just sounds ridiculous.

Yeah, it really fuckin' is! Like, there's this guy - this French dude, sorta chubby - he looks pretty much like a goddamn giant... otter... bear-person. With horns.

[Mika can't help but laugh at the mental image.]

I can't say I've ever considered otters to be the pinnacle of fear-inspiring. You serious?

I think he's supposed to be a "civilised" guy.

But yeah, he looks really fuckin' stupid.

[Still chuckling, she can't help herself right now.]

I think I know some otters who might be offended by that.

... D'ya have otter-people too? [She... really can't assume Mika is joking.]

I think I recall a few swimmers in college who were. I do know a snake and a couple of cats personally, though.

... Say. [She fails to disguise a nervous sideglance.] Just wonderin', the animals in your world, uh... Are they just animals? Or do they talk, or what?

[wolfishsurvivalist]

The normal animals? They're just animals.

[She cocks her head.]

Though I can communicate with dogs on a certain level. It's not like it's Narnia or anything.
