[ He knows pretty much anyone who knew he had this idea would object which is why he's up so early. He's brought in the milk but instead of just dumping it down the drain like he usually does he's set it on the table and watches it apprehensively. He has to do this-he has to know. But there's no way to tell what kind of milk it is without... drinking... it. Just the thought alone is enough to churn his stomach. But he won't get anywhere if he doesn't take risks. ]

..is there really no other way to do this?

[ He pours grabs the bottle and pours a very small glass which he makes a disgusted face at before taking it in both hands. 'Just... a little right?' He takes a deep breath and gulps down some air before starting to take a drink-managing to swallow very little of it.. He immediately spews it out though-coughing loudly as he wipes his mouth, traces of blood on his hand and in the spewed milk. ]

Well.. could have been worse. [ Cough-cough-hack ]

[Sherlock sighs.]

Best to keep you hidden then. When you changed before... how long did it last?

[Sherlock checks his watch.]

The first time it depends on what triggers the transaction- the chinese liquor only works for about thirty to forty-five minutes while prototype antidote works for twenty four hours as long as there's about a ten hour break between doses.

Since I don't know what in the milk caused it, I can't say when it'll wear off.

I doubt the milk would be anything like the antidote. Mayfield just isn't that kind, I don't think.

[He checks his watch again.]

Do you want to stay here, or should we try to get you to the fl- house?

I'll stay here. I can't risk that it wearing off while I'm out in the open.

Do you need anything?

[He looks down at himself.]

Humm, best if it's nothing from the front area.

[ He has suspicions but he probably doesn't want to know. ]

No thanks, I'm fine.

[It's more that Sherlock is in his pajama bottoms.]

[Sherlock sits against the wall.]

Waiting's dull, you know.

I can tell you about the organization, I guess. I obviously don't know much about them, but I can tell you why I can't write off the organizations involvement in Mayfield.

That... seems adequate.

[It might still be dull, but it's better than stewing.]

To start simply- I'm sure you remember when I told you this might all be a simulation. Well, that's the part that's bothering me. The Organization I've been after is particularly interested in programmers and videogame designers.

I found a lead once, at a videogame convention but unfortunately he ended up blown up when a bomb meant for someone else went off, a little while later I found another lead- his name was Itakura Suguru, unfortunately he was murdered by an old friend of his but he had been in contact with the man that had died in the explosion-I found his journal and in it he described how he'd been pressured into creating a program-but once he realized what the program was he stopped production on it, knowing full well that the organization would kill him if he didn't do it.

In his journal he left an entry worded exactly like this: 'I can't finish it. I won't. The program mustn't be completed. Not for the sake my vision but for the sake of humanity.'

Of course he never left any other details about the program.

[Sherlock looks thoughtful.]

That... makes little sense. If he knew he would die anyway, why not leave details for others?

He obviously didn't want anyone to try replicate the project. Anyways, it's probably not them-their main base operates inside Japan and I haven't, so far, seen any kind evidence of Japanese Involvement.

[Sherlock nods his understanding, then looks over at him.]

How are you feeling... really? It can't be pleasant.

[That might have had a hint of concern, but he'll deny it.]

Which part? Waiting for a feeling like my bones are melting and my heart's going to burst? Or knowing that the person behind Mayfield possibly knows the truth about my identity?

Neither are particularly pleasant but there isn't much I can do but wait.

Is there anything you can take to make it not so bad? Or anything I can develop?

[They've got an entire lab at their disposal.]

[ Shincihi shrugs. ]

Probably not. If I knew more about APTX 4869 I'd have a better idea, but Haibara won't tell me anymore than what I already to know.

Besides, after the first few times it doesn't seem to hurt as bad.

[Sherlock grimaces and mumbles.]

I'm sorry.

[ He just wipes a bit of sweat from his chin as already he can feel the heat starting to build. He probably has less than thirty minutes. ]

Don't worry about it.

Anyway, the Organization has code names based off of Alcoholic beverages. So far I know of Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Calvados, Korn, Chianti, Bourbon, and Kir. Kir doesn't necessarily count though, as she's actually a NOC with the CIA. There are others- however they're not with the organization anymore. Gin killed Pisco, Tequila was killed in an explosion, and Sherry is in hiding and now living under the name Haibara Ai.

[Sherlock shakes his head.]

That's...

[He looks at Shinichi.]

What's wrong?

[That's concern for sure - shush.]

Nothing unusual.

J-just the normal-

[ Throb... ]

[ Like before, his hands immediately go to his chest. ]

[Sherlock reaches out to steady him, by holding his shoulders. He realizes how warm he is and lets go.]

What can I do?

[ He's not fighting it this time so the process starts much quicker than it had last time. If transformation has sounded painful by description alone that's nothing compared to how it looks. ]

[ He's suddenly getting smaller but it seems as if every part of him is receding into its self. ]

[Well now Sherlock is just watching with scientific curiosity.]

[ Eventually the shrinking stops and Shinichi is once again the size of a small seven year old. A small, exhausted seven year old wrapped in a robe that far too big. At some point he must have passed out because he only slumps to the floor, unconscious. ]

[Sherlock sighs and realizes he is breathing rather heavily. He wraps Conan up in his robe and gently moves the lad into his lap. He won't try to wake Conan, but won't move him more until Conan is awake.]

I wish I could do more.
