Well, that was fun. So that's the kind of thing that happens here regularly?

[When Caroline needs to think, she goes out for a run. With some of her abilities regained at the scrambled state of her brain, she has a lot to think about. The completely distracted young woman is running all about town and it's perfectly possible that she'll just run into someone due to her lack of focus. Anyone with magical talent will probably be treated to a double take.

Hopefully she won't run into anything when that double take happens, but it's perfectly possible she'll be spotted having a run in with an innocent tree after spotting someone magically inclined.]

And I do need to talk to you about that. I'm really sorry. I don't know what exactly that was, but I was a real jerk to a lot of people. Hopefully you're willing to look past that since we were both being pretty weird.

[Cade smirks.]

"I might be willing to look past it. There was that one fun part."

Cade gets a bit closer and practically whispers in her ear.
"...well, for you I think it was more like three or four fun parts?"

[She jerks back, putting space between them again with an annoyed expression.]

Hey, personal space. I need it. And just as importantly, didn't I just finish saying we're going to look past what happened last week?

[Cade looks a bit hurt.]

"Ah-all of it?"

[She winces at that expression.]

I just don't want you thinking I'm like that. I'm really not the type to go out with a guy I barely know so that I can drink for free and then sleep with him when I have no intention of even calling afterward. And all of it was very mean spirited, I wasn't out to spend time with you.

"Oh, of course not! I just, I'm not used to being brushed off after something like that. Even if... other me's technique wasn't quite as perfected as mine, I felt like I still did pretty good.

I'd like to change that you barely know me... Maybe I could treat you to a picnic for two or something?"

You did fine. Really, you did, especially under the circumstances. I wasn't exactly helping with the mood.

[She hesitates, shifting her weight from foot to foot.] Lunch sounds nice, but I'm not looking for a boyfriend, if that's what you're looking for.

[Fine? That's it? What kind of competition has Cade been up against?

Anyways, this sounds like a nice start of something more meaningful anyways.]

"How about we don't look for anything, and just see where we end up, ok? Picnics are more fun if we aren't fretting over such things."

You're not listening to me. I can't --

[She presses her fingers against her temples.] I did something stupid last week. A lot of things, actually, but one in particular. My mind, my memories are all pretty scrambled right now. I think I have someone back home. Or I did, but I think he was about to dump me, but it's all a confusing tangle.

Now is a bad time for anyone to start getting ideas.

"Hey! You misunderstand! I'm just saying let's not even think about that stuff, ok? Just have fun."

All right, all right. A picnic sounds nice. But there's one rule.

No hitting on me.

"...Ok, no hitting on you.
And if I slip and say anything remotely flirtatious, you have my permission to smack me."

It would have to be pretty bad for me to hit you. Like talking about my boobs bad.

But okay, we have a deal. We'll go out for a picnic.

[And for a moment, Cade is thinking about her boobs, and how much he enjoyed them a few days ago. It is still a very vivid memory. Cade kind of blanks out for a moment before snapping out of it.]

"...OH, great! What kind of food do you like?"

[She raises and eyebrow at him, but he's still following the rules.]

Whatever, you can surprise me. Though I like spicy food when I have the option.

"The thought just occurred to me that it might be fun if I come to your place first and we make the food together then go out and relax and eat it..."

Sure, we can do that. I'm pretty decent in the kitchen, and I'll make up a reason so the drone husband doesn't freak out at having some man in the house with me.

"You can tell him we are planning a multicultural food project for your work next year."

[Unfortunately, one of Cade's shadier aspects is that he is a little too practiced at making up stories for suspicious husbands.]

That works. It's not like he does a lot of thinking or assumes the worst about anything. It's just easier to deal with when he doesn't ask a lot of questions.

Schools out, so whenever you feel like having lunch, I should be free.

"... How about tomorrow?"

Sure. Do want to come by around 11:30 so we have some time to cook?

[Cade smiles.]

"Sure, sounds like a plan! I'll see you then!"

[She finally relaxes enough to actually smile.]

I'll be there and waiting. But I've got to get going before my muscles completely cool down.

"Ok, see you then!"

[Waves as she jogs off.]
