event: break-in

[Anyone who drops by the dairy between the hours of three PM and five PM on Tuesday will find that the door's been unlocked. Even though the door's shut, there's a strange humming sound coming from inside the building.

Careful if you want to try to peek inside, though. You may not like what you find.]

...which they are. Naturally. The source is a rather distinctive machine in the corner. Potentially the generator from that first infiltration.

The sign's new. [He wrinkles his nose.] Do Not Touch, hmm? [He snorts, before taking his cane in hand and nearing the machine.] That's sure to work.

[Lightly, experimentally, he'll place the tail end of his cane against the machine's exterior.]

[This opportunity was far too good to pass up and it was more than apparent that she wasn't the only one who felt the same. Naoto could hardly call herself a detective if she didn't come to investigate. So into the dairy she went and it isn't long before she catches up to Mr. Nigma whose voice she immediately recognizes. He was the ethics teacher after all and Naoto was nothing if not a fantastic student.

She stands a few feet away from him, watching warily as he prods the machine with his cane. Nothing happens and she can't help but feel relieved. She had no desire to witness someone's death today.
]

Good afternoon, Mr. Nigma.

[The voice nearly makes him jump, and he whips around to face the intruder, cane brandished and at the ready. Thankfully, it's not Jack Smith or one of the drones. Rather, it's one of his students.]

Ms. Shirogane. [And the cane's lowered to his side, his voice recorder sliding back into his breast pocket.] You startled me.

My apologies, that was certainly not my intent.

Is the tip of your cane still intact? [She nods towards the object in question. Nothing appeared to have happened, but one can easily miss small, important details. Maybe the machine was hot enough to mar the surface of the cane...?]
