-1671 Nelson: Locked to Housemates-

[After rushing through the house with hands over her ears the night before and barricading herself in her room over night, Olivier wastes no time in approaching her housemates in the morning.]

Tell me to make breakfast.

[Strange coming from her, sure, but she has to figure out if the effects of the flower wore off or not.]

-Action: Flower Shop-

[Her first order of business at work is to make sure all those strange flowers are gone. They had to be the root of the problem. While she's checking the window display, one of the regular drone customers knocks on the window, earning a glare from her.]

It is open, you don't have to knock on the window.

[The drone laughs and shakes her head.] I just wanted to say happy birthday, Mrs. Coxen.

[It doesn't take long before Olivier realizes most of the drones will be giving her birthday greeting, and she decides to flee to the back of the store.]

-Phone: Filtered to Ilsa-

[She decides that it's best to stick to working in the back, but while she's back there, she remembers that they finally got in the last of Ilsa's requested plants. Maybe she can have some normal conversation without anyone interrupting her with birthday wishes.]

I managed to get a hold of those things on your list.

-Action: Around Town-

[Olivier walks with her head ducked down, trying to avoid making eye contacts with drones, but it seems one calls out to her no matter how fast she walks. Every now and then, she straightens up, knowing her odd behavior will cause comment from those who know her, but it's not long before she's avoiding eye contact and picking up her pace again. She may even be careless enough to bump into people.]

-Action: Underground Base-

[She sits at the head of the conference table with a cup of steaming coffee. Anyone who happens to have made their way to the base for any business may find her sipping said coffee and staring at a broken pocket watch on the table in front of her.]

[ooc: She is lost in thought, and a sword or gun may end up pointed at anyone who tries to sneak up on her.]

[ That afternoon, Ilsa knocks on the office door. ]

Olivier opens the door, then steps back for Ilsa to enter.]

I've got it all right over here.

I'm glad they came in this quickly.

[ Ilsa steps in, and has a confused frown. She's surprised that everyone isn't seeing that storm-cloud over your head, Olivier. ]

Is something the matter, Major General?

A few things came in every day.

I'm fine, just tired of the chatter of the drones coming in and out.

[She busies herself with double checking the list and the corner of the counter marked 'Do Not Touch'.]

It gave me time to make sure everything was here though.

Ah. Would it have anything to do with the soap art on the front window, wishing you a happy birthday?

[Soap art...she groans.]

That is humiliating. What is so important about birthdays?

Celebrating that you have survived another year, despite the best efforts of your enemies?

[ Looks like Ilsa has been learning more than hand-to-hand combat forms from Olivier in their morning bouts. ]

Is it really another year survived? We don't even know if we'll remember this place when we go home.

Maybe so, maybe no - but it means you're still aware, and able. If we get out under our own power, I'm thinking we might remember.

That would be quite interesting. I know there are many things I have taken note of to hopefully improve things back home.

I suppose I can count being aware for this birthday a small victory, I could still be one of those mindless drones walking around.

Every small victory is important. Avalanches are made up of pebbles, in the beginning.

[She chuckles a bit at that.]

Good one. Hopefully we can build up enough pebbled to bury this place soon enough.

That's the idea.

[ Ilsa smiles, and reads the list of plants available. ]

I like the idea of crushing the people in charge. I just hope I can remember it when I do go home afterward.

[ Ilsa giggles through her nose at that one. ]

If you're taking the direct path, that works. Grandmamma would say it's more fun to watch them crush themselves, and not know you set them up.

Well, I do like a good show, especially one I've had a hand in.

It's a good thing all my grandparents got along... unless someone was the idiot that gotall of them angry.

[ Ilsa is packing up the plants for travel. ]

Last I heard, the guy was still in federal prison.

[She chuckles.]

Sounds like a good story.

Well, the whole story would take an evening and a bottle of wine to tell. But the short version... does your world have the saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"?

[She chuckles.]

Yes, yes we do. And the enemy of your enemy can make quite a good ally when in need.

They'll also do a surprising amount of work in your favor when they get the right information.

Yes, that could mean a lot of sitting back and watching the show. Your grandparents educated you on all of this?

Not just that, but when you need to use the official authorities without telling them all of what's going on, there's a fair bit of interesting interplay.

Keeping secrets from the authorities, huh? I know a thing or two about that.
