[ Interestingly enough, a package is waiting for Obi-Wan when he arrives home, resting casually on the doorstep. He moves to pick it up with a puzzled look, simply staring for a long moment. What could this be about?

He steps inside, carefully pulling at the box. There is almost a hushed feeling about the air as he does so, an intense anticipation.

Nothing. The box is empty.

That'd explain it. You're on good terms, I take it? [that almost sounded something fatherly, or maybe it's just her...]

[mediations]

From what Luke has told me, we are.

[aozaki]

Come now, that's not something people need to be told to know. [GENERALLY, but the other man seemed mild enough.]

[mediations]

It's rather difficult to know. In my time, Luke is still an infant.

[aozaki]

Oh? So there's maybe a few decades, separating the time that he's from and yours?

[mediations]

From what I've gathered, that is exactly the case.

[aozaki]

That's a bit unfortunate, I was hoping to hear more about him from someone else. Then if you don't mind me asking, now knowing how he'll eventually grow up to be thanks to this town, how has that changed your initial opinion of him as a child?

[mediations]

[ His response comes out smoothly, with the smallest hint of warning behind it. This subject -Luke, really - is important, and tender. Difficult to talk, and to think about, but there is pride, and hope. ]Nothing can change my opinion concerning Luke Skywalker, I'm afraid.

[aozaki]

[That sounds surprising.] Really? A lot can happen to a person, from childhood to adulthood. If you have such a strong opinion of him as a child that won't waver even several decades later, you must have a lot of faith in how he'll grow and what he'll come to accomplish.

[a soft hum.]

He's destined for quite the hurdle, isn't he? [if there was a warning, she doesn't seem to have heeded it.]

[mediations]

[Softly,] He has an important destiny, yes.

[And then, this is his way of moving the conversation away from Luke. ] Every living being does. It just depends on how you look at things.

[aozaki]

It sounds too fatalistic to me, I don't like the idea that people's births are premeditated to accomplish something they have no choice in. Then again, who am I to claim free will isn't a human construct? [She's fine with that, for now.] Would you say that all of us were destined, to have wound up in a place like this?

[mediations]

[There's a small, thoughtful hum from him.] That all depends.

[aozaki]

[...Interesting.] So yes in some cases, no in others?

[mediations]

However that person chooses to take their destiny.

[aozaki]

Some people would say that's deep, others would argue it makes no sense. Hm...

If you don't mind me asking, how would that apply to Luke, or to you?

[mediations]

[His response is quite dry.] Luke still has a choice in the matter.

[aozaki]

[...Hm. Mixed messages all over from this guy. Strange...] Why do you talk like you don't have one?

[mediations]

I've lived long enough to know. [Oh please, he is not that old. But he's lived through more than enough.]

[aozaki]

You're still living. You'll continue to also, as long as we're all still here. Isn't giving up premature? There isn't an age cutoff to that sort of thing.
