["Seras" has gotten up rather late today. Partially because someone else usually swings by to pick her up for school earlier in the day, and mostly because "Seras" wasn't Seras at all. She was Flandre, and had centuries of the sleeping habits of being a nocturnal creature.

After wandering around the house, staring at herself in the mirror and then pointedly avoiding all reflective surfaces and wondering why everything was so small, she has gone outside to the lawn and...flops over onto her back in the grass.]

...I forgot what it's like without any wings at all.

[She has a rather un-Seras-like French accent.]

This is annoying.

[And just like all those years and years had wound back and she was human again. The world seemed quieter, the clouds less distinct--and when she held her hand up, there were no claws on her fingers like there should have been.

Noticeably absent is the collective panic attack much of Mayfield seems to be suffering lately. But, after all--Flandre believed this all was just one long, strange dream. What was one more odd thing to dream about?]

Anyway, you're not in your normal body and neither is the woman whose, um, body I'm in. ... If you ever run into me—er, her when she's her again, you ought to tell her that.

["Utsuho" scratches the back of "her" head, "her" eyes looking off to the side.]

[Little kid logic applies here and she very bravely runs the fuck away.

So unsurprisingly she falls over after a few steps.]

["Utsuho" walks up behind "Seras" after a few beats of staring at her bellyflop.]

Hey! You don't have to be afraid of me, you're human right now, remember?

[Being confronted with someone bigger than her and in a body that feels completely alien and thus vulnerable means Flandre's self-preservation impulse is actually working.

So she starts squalling as she tries to scramble away.]

Remi, Remi! Meiling! Sakuyaaa!

[That stops "Utsuho" in her tracks, her body going rigid.]

... You know Meiling?

[Flandre at least manages to sit up properly, if only to pout.]

Of course I do, she's our gate guard!

[And Flandre's babysitter.]

I met her a few months ago. She was, um—passed out in my front yard.

We talked for a little bit.

[Flandre once again proves she has the attention span of a superball on speed.]

...Meiling was sick? [WHY WAS SHE NOT INFORMED OF THIS?] Or...sleeping? How did you talk, if Meiling was asleep?

Sick? No, she was drunk. And I woke her up.

...on the ground? But you...don't sleep on the ground, then, you--

[Now she's all confused again and gesturing with her hands to emphasize something that only...really makes sense to her.]

["Utsuho" tilts "her" head in a manner not unlike the real deal.]

Normally you don't, but I think she was just that tired.

The ground's not a very good place to sleep, anyway. All cold and damp and made of rocks.

Well, she was sleeping on the grass ...

...but grass is outside, not on the ground!

[Until recently, Flandre had only been dimly aware of this amorphous "outside" thing. She was very well versed in spatial concepts involving basements but clearly all outside is the same!]

But it's grass!

[Someone pinch Balin and wake him up, he can't believe he's having this kind of conversation.]

And anyway, I told her that she ought to sleep in a hammock or something! People do strange things when they're drunk, you know?

But it's a growing thing, so it goes outside too! Meiling keeps all the growing things outside in the garden.

[She's 495 years old SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE BEST UNDERSTANDING OF SOME THINGS.]

Remi says you're not supposed to because that's rude.

[She definitely sounds like she oughta be five. Most of the vampires he's met are kids or teenagers. And the one adult-sounding vampire seemed more like a bouncy teeny-bopper herself.]

Not supposed to do what? Sleep on the grass?
