06 - Because Snow Forts Are Freakin' Awesome

[A brilliant idea has come to Picky today. An excellent, brilliant, incredible idea. If there's all this snow... then he has to build a snow fort. Of course, that's a lot of work for one small Picky to do on his own. He has barely managed to outline the area on his front yard. And his clumsy robot's help isn't that helpful, being that the robot is so clumsy. But he has a plan. He knows what to do.

Pokey has already been called. Pokey will know what to do! Pokey might even, like, have a robot that'll build forts! Or at least steal enough snow from all the other yards so they can get something REALLY AWESOME going on.]

[Action - 7132 Brooks Lane - Afternoon]

[The fort is built! There's a lovely wall of snow in the front yard of 7132 Brooks Lane, and faint boyish voices coming from inside.

Also, snowballs. Snowballs are definitely being launched from inside, if you get too close. Do you dare get too close?! CAN YOU SURVIVE SUCH A PELTING?! CAN YOU?!]

[Well, he doesn't have a robot to do it. But Pokey? Has a pretty good idea of how to set things up. He takes a look at the yard at first, as if measuring it, before walking over.]

Okay nerd. You guys have any racks or shovels in the garage or something?

Racks? ...well we've got three shovels in the garage! And one of those slidey snow-scoop things!

[As of yet? ..he's got a bucket. It's a pretty nice sized bucket. Still. A bucket?]

What're racks for?

You know, like bookshelf racks. You should be able to slide 'em off if you push all the stupid crap off it. We're going to use them as bases for when we make the taller parts of the wall.

Cool. We'll go get those so we can start pushing piles of snow.

[ One of those stray snowballs? Just landed in Ozma of Oz's hair. YEAH BOYS YOU ARE IN TROUBLE, just look at the glowering she's giving the fort.]

Hmm, I wonder what's happening in here?

[ Shana peers at the fort. ]

[ There's an innocent potential victim walking around as we speak, actually. Nadeko here is standing a little distance away from the fort, staring at it curiously. ]

[It was pretty much the first day he'd had off since he came to Mayfield and the moment he woke up he knew he didn't really want to do anything. He should probably explore more of the town or gather information about his current situation but it was hard to find the energy.

Plus it was really cold outside.

Instead he stared out the window at the two boys playing in the snow next door. With his chin resting on his hand, Latvia found himself in a daze like state. It was somewhat therapeutic to watch, the two of them working and the ... robot?

Wait what?

Latvia couldn't seem to perk up fast enough to catch his head from slipping off his hand and banging into the windowpane with a loud clatter]

Afternoon

[It was her day off, so she'd put off her morning jog until afternoon. She slows at the sight of the snow fort, and dodges just in time to avoid the path of a snowball. To her, this is a declaration of war.]

[She makes a pile of snowballs and takes cover behind a nearby tree. Then, she sends two snowballs into the entrance of the fort.]

...we can do that?

[The thought hadn't come to him at all, to use something to support the sides of the fort. It had to be all snow, right? And they'd get in trouble!

...no, no they wouldn't get in trouble. Key-Fu wouldn't care.

A huge smile breaks out on his face.]

We can do that! Yeah! We can!

[And he drops everything and dashes for the garage. Sir Cecil Shufflebottom, the clumsy robot, trails right behind. He only trips once.]

Yeah! We got her!

[Oh. Oh wait. That "her" was Ozma. This might not be good. Picky keeps his head above the snow fort's wall for a few moments longer than he ought to, before ducking to safety.]

[What's happening? Snowballs are happening! Two which are rapidly tossed over the side and right at her!

Picky being the one tossing them, his aim isn't all that good...]

[Aha! Another intruder! Another enemy to fend off! Picky had heard the sound of feet crunching on snow, and had risen up, snowballs at the ready...]

...Nadeko!

[Wait. He wasn't sure he could throw snowballs at her...]

Huh?

[Picky stops from tightly packing some snow, and looks around. Did he hear a clunk? Was someone coming?]

Aaaah!

[Didn't really matter. All his looking about left him unprepared for Cecil the Clumsy Robot providing the next load of snow, which was dumped right atop him.]

It's in my jacket! Aah! Aaaaah! It's cold!

[Oh! Oh wow, they've got someone already fighting back! THIS IS REALLY EXCITING!]

Let's get her! We can get her!

[And Picky is quick to pile up more snowballs, keeping low and out of sight as much as he can. They're gonna need lots of ammo.]

Morning ; Action

[It didn't really hurt, but the vibrations still rang through his skull. When Latvia opened his eyes again, rubbing his forehead slightly, the smaller of the two had been buried in snow. Opening the window he called out to him]

Hey!

Are you alright!?

[Pokey just watches his brother dash towards the garage along with the robot, and sighs for a moment. That robot is not going to be a help at all, unsurprisingly, but hey. At least Picky seems to like it.

Pokey will head inside and start taking the shelves off some of the bookshelves he can find, happily just sliding the books off of it and bringing the shelves outside. He'll start working on a first layer of the snow forts walls, setting the shelves to the side as he works.]

[Yeah, Pokey will just be pulling Picky down for a moment.]Shut up stupid! You'll give us away!

[Pokey's aim, however, is a little better.]

Head's up!

[Picky may not be throwing snowballs at the moment, but that doesn't mean anything to Pokey.

Heads up! Here comes a snowball!]

Hey! Hey slow down!

[Pokey frowns a little at his brother. Man, Picky, you get into it but you're not good at strategy.]

Listen.

You stay here and keep throwing snowballs, alright? I'm going to sneak to the side and try and get her from there.

Morning ; Action

[With the robot's help, Picky had managed to get himself mostly extracted from the pile of snow. He was now occupied with brushing it off of himself. It takes him a moment to realize that he was being shouted to.]

...yeah! Yeah, I'm alright! I'm fine!

[The robot continues to brush him off.]

[There's no resistance to anything Pokey tries inside the house. Drone-mom seems to have gone out shopping. Drone-sibling natters pointlessly about "Gosh, you'll get in trouble!" but does nothing. So hooray!

And Picky does so very much like Cecil. He has handed one of the normal shovels to him, while Picky has concerned himself with the scoop and one of the others. The robot's making quite the clatter, dragging the shovel behind him.

It's all tossed in a pile, and then... to work! Picky puts his efforts towards providing more snow for Pokey to build up. He seems pretty good at that.]

[Pokey, for his part, busies himself with piling snow on more snow, building it up and smoothing it out. He waits for Picky a minute before he starts to plant the shelves into the snow, standing them vertically.]

Come over here nerd and start piling snow around 'em. THey'll work as a reinforcement and base.

[imjustpicky]

[He's a little out of breath when he dumps the latest load of snow down nearby, and it takes him a moment to come over and do ask asked.]

Haah... okay. Like this?

[And he starts piling and patting, mirroring what he's pretty sure Pokey had been doing.]

We're gonna make the best snow fort ever, I bet.

[Yep, that's right. Good job Picky, you're doing it right, though Pokey won't congratulate his brother just yet. He keeps going around it, sticking the shelves in at the moment, adding snow himself sometimes.]

Yeah it is! It's going to be the biggest anyone has ever seen. No one's gonna mess with us.
