[Well, it's been a few days since the end of the event, when Lyon stormed up to her room and locked herself in out of sheer embarrassment.  She was droned for seemingly no reason about ten minutes after that, and Mayfield's been treated to the cheerful drone named Mismar bouncing around town in her place ever since - doing her hair up in curls, going on dates with the Prince's drone, and just generally having a nice relaxing time in the wonderful town of Mayfield.

...All of that comes to an abrupt end on Saturday morning, however, as a red beam of light tears through the roof of 747 Partridge Drive, bright enough and wide enough to be seen from anywhere in town.]

...Hello, everyone.  It's Lyon.  I'm back.  How long has it been here?  And can anyone help repair a hole in a roof?

How did you get the roof fixed?

It wasn't the roof, it was a wall, and it was back at the mansion so I had to work at it with some of the other staff.

I wonder if I'll have to do that here, or if the house will just fix itself. Did that machine have anything to do with fixing property damage, or just us?

[ Hrk. ] I don't know. It can't be that hard to fix, can it?

I'm hoping not. I've never had to do anything like that before.

Why would I charge my friends for something like that?

Well, it's my fault the roof has a hole in it, so I should be the one fixing it. Which is why if someone else does it for me, I should be compensating them for their time.

But it's not the same if I offered.

You could feed me, though! [ ...you're better off paying her. ]

Well, I have been practicing my cooking lately.

That's good! I think I need to increase my variety of dishes, so maybe we can swap recipes? [ Hope she likes simple improvised Eastern dishes. ]

[Actually, yes! Retso cooks things like that sometimes.]

I don't know how to make anything very fancy yet, but sure, I don't mind.

You must have something from your world that they don't have in mine. Maybe. I guess we'll see!

Mm! When should I come over? Are you going to work on it now? I think we have a.... what's it called? — ah! A tarp! We have a tarp in the garage if you need to just cover it up for now.

Oh, that would be very helpful, thank you! You can come over whenever you like.

Alright, I'll be there soon!

[ She hangs up.

Moments later, she calls back. ] Um. Which house are you in? [ Whoops. ]

Oh, sorry! 747 Partridge Drive.

Okay, I got it this time! [ Now she can hang up for real, and get on her way over. She has the tarp bundled and slung over her shoulder, with a heavy toolbox under her other arm. Meiling literally flies straight over and pauses to hover over the damaged area. ]

Wow, that's almost impressive...

[sparkling_eyes]

[Lyon's back in her room by this point, so she waves up at Meiling.]

Yeah... I messed up pretty bad this time.

[not_so_great_wall]

[ She smiles and floats down to stand on the roof near the whole, dropping the tarp bundle onto the peak and the toolbox on that, so it doesn't slide down. ]

So... what happened?

[Lyon holds up her left hand, showing Meiling the Twilight Rune. It glows with the same reddish light that exploded out of the roof earlier.]

I lost control of a regain that I didn't expect to come back with. It can be sort of temperamental.

[not_so_great_wall]

Ohh, I see. [ She crouches at the edge of the hole and peers down. ] Is it some kind of spell? I've seen magical symbols and things around, but I don't really know them myself. That's more of Patchouli's specialty.

It's a Rune. They're what allow people to use magic in my world. Some of them are more powerful than others.
