[It appeared the postman had brought him something that morning when he went out to get the mail. Bringing it into the house, he unwrapped it to find a curious board that had little parts lit up on it.

Picking it up, Thrall almost dropped it when it burst into golden light, swirling around him. Instantly he felt something settle back into his body, like a calming power, yet turbulent.

When he opened his eyes, lightning crackled from the two orbs that were alight with the power of the storm.]

My power... the elements, I can feel them once again! Truly this is a gift to have this part of myself back.

[Reverently, he set the box down, the plaque having vanished into thin air after doing its job.]

[Thrall could feel it more keenly now as he took his walk after work. The crisp air flowing through the trees, the smell of nature, it was like taking his first steps into the world of shamanism once more.

Moving deeper into a secluded area, he set up a target. Content that no one would get hurt if he tried out his abilities, he took aim. The storm grew around him, and lightning crackled as thunder split the air for a brief moment. And then, he thrust his hand out as a bolt arched from his hand, and split the rock in half. Another blast struck the rock, and then jumped to a fallen tree and another. And a third was blasted off its perch from a gust of wind.]

Excellent. No further testing is required I see.

[Healing was coming along slowly, but it was coming along. Although he was still confined to a wheelchair due to a lack of all of his legs, those legs were growing back. And he could actually do things without getting out of breath! So he decided he'd try to wheel himself to the park and get some air.

Picky was mostly on the path, because it was easier to do that than go onto the muddy, snowy ground. But hey, he could hear cracking and wooshing somewhere in the distance... so he wheeled on up to the edge of what he could safely traverse, and stared in the direction of the sound, wondering what it was.]

[Figuring there was enough time for one more try, Thrall held his hand up into the air. A storm began to churn and gather as he twisted his hand around in a channeling motion. Winds whipped around him and soon formed into a tornado that whirled in place around him. He was unaware he was giving Picky a good view of his abilities.]

[He wasn't sure what was happening, at first. It was all just tree branches rattling and leaves rustling. That could just be the wind, right? But then it was big enough and purposeful enough that someone was doing it. And that was cool.]

Woah!

[It didn't occur to him to get out of the way, because... well... COOL.]

[Thrall looked up in surprise. Oh he had a visitor. Dropping his hands, he bowed slightly.]

Lok'tar young one. Have you come to watch me practice? I am Go'el.

[And now he noticed that it was an awesome guy doing this stuff. Though a bit of him was scared, the rest of him was far too impressed to express anything other than excitement.]

That was awesome! I was just.. here, cuz the park's nice, but, but I...

...You're Go'el?!

[Dude. Pokey's got an awesome action dad, too!]

I... I'm Picky! From the phone, remember?

Ah! Well met Picky. I am glad to see you are feeling better.

[He could see the resemblance between the two and smiled warmly.] What you witnessed was the power of a Shaman, to call upon the storms.

Thanks! I can get out of the house, now!

[Then he gives his head a curious quirk.]

Shaman? So... you do wind stuff?

That's right. I commune with the elements, to call upon the storm, earth and fire.

Cool!

How's earth work? Do you like, make earthquakes? Or shoot rocks?

[Powers. They're pretty exciting!]

I can call upon the earth itself to heave and tremble, so yes, earthquakes. Also I can hit an opponent or target with concussive force.

And Totems. I can summon them as well, to increase the strength or durability of the people surrounding myself.

Earthquakes! Aaah, that's pretty dangerous!

[It's not really scolding... more like worry. But it's not lingered on for long.]

...totems?

[The only thing coming to mind was really big carved poles...]

They are. It takes skill to cast these earthquakes properly.

Ah, let me see...

[Concentrating, he held out his hand, and there was a soft puff of smoke. A axe-like item with wisps of white smoke puffed there.] I see, so I have regained it. This is a totem, a Wrath of Air Totem. It increases ones speed in combat.

Woah....

[Powers were cool. Magic was cool. Making stuff just appear? That's REALLY REALLY COOL. He scoots forwards in his wheelchair, wanting to get a better look.]

...so it makes you move really fast? Really?

That's right. Although it has a limited duration to remain summoned.

[The Captain couldn't miss that if he tried. He's flying around the city and slowly floats down to see what just happened.]

You do all that damage?

Indeed. I chose a spot that would take the least amount of damage, but still there is much force behind it. Back home there would be enchanted training dummies for this sort of thing.

I hope I did not disturb anyone, have I?

Honestly, if blasting things was the worse that happened in this town we'd be lucky...

... and you'd be dead.

So, no problem.

One can be thankful that death is not a consequence for practicing abilities. But I will refrain from using them unless it is required.

Eh, death happens here. A lot.

[Of course it was never pleasant back home either.]

I see. Not much to do about that then. I am unable to bring people back to life as of yet.

Are you a necromancer?

Because, if you are, I am going to feed you your own arms.

[Thrall's expression darkened at that.]

I am not. As a Shaman, I am able to return someone back to life, healing their wounds. It is the equivalent of any medical treatment, but sometimes it does not always work.

The Priests, Paladins and Druids have the ability to return one who is recently fallen. I myself can return several people back to the land of the living without any adverse effects.

Like a psychic?

The powers of the mind and the healing arts are mostly separated where I come from. So no, I possess no psychic abilities of my own.

Yeah, you lost me.

Luckily, my magic's pretty simple.

I see. I am glad you have regained it then.

Yeah, though I got it in parts.

Still, it's not like it matters against this town.

I see. It has a lot of dangers then?

Yeah, and they either take your powers away or make them useless whenever they want.

That sort of ☠☠☠☠ only helps you against some of the other ☠☠☠☠ that were brought here.

I see. It seems we are locked in a survival race then, between the moments of relative peace.

Yeah, sure, survival. You can call it that.

What else would you call such a trying state.

I don't quite follow. [Was there some kind of insanity about?]

You die, you come back. You try to fix something, they change it back. You, personally, cannot change a ☠☠☠☠ thing.

Yeah. Kinda like a pain in the ☠☠☠☠ that won't ever go away.

Indeed. There are no spirit healers here? People who are skilled in the art of returning one to health?

There are healers, yeah, but that won't save you.
