Pfft. Typical. Looks like the IT Department is under new management, Mayfield. S'what happens when you outsource your tech to Hades and/or wherever the hell else we are.

Anyone know what the deal is, here? I'm normally not one to let anything get me down, but gravity certainly brought me down through my living room floor this morning.

[Tony's a man of science and tomfoolery. That's why he's phasing his hand in and out of his otherwise-solid-looking front door experimentally. Then he's sticking other limbs in there -- one foot, then the other... walk by at the right time and you might just see a bemused human head seemingly stuck in the door, looking about the area and curiously inspecting the clouds in the sky.]

[ Meiling, dressed in her work overalls and a tee shirt, stares over at the front door of the house she had just passed. ] ...Tony? Are you okay? That looks painful. [ Someone has been lucky to avoid most of the glitches so far; though passing through her front gate without having to open it was pretty odd. ]

[Tony beams, still kinda... dangling through a doorway.]

Fine! Mostly. [ She walks up and stops a few feet from the door, bending down so maybe he doesn't have to crane his head as much. ] I didn't know you could get stuck like that.

Neither did I. Im not stuck though, actually. [He reaches forward with one hand and pushes his face back through the door and inside, ENTIRELY for dramatic effect because lol. Then he opens the door from within and bows majestically, like an amateur magician..]

Oh! [ A clap of her hands and some laughter. ] You look like you're having fun with this.

So do you. I've always been a bit of an entertainer. Don't ask me to sing, though, you'll regret it.

Do you know what all this wonky stuff is happening for?

I won't. [ Just because he said so, though! ]

[ Meiling shakes her head. ] No, I don't. I've never seen anything like it, but Patchouli seems to think that Mayfield is... breaking down.

Hm. A popular opinion isn't necessarily a right one, but it's all I've got so far. I wonder if something we've done recently has put a strain on Mayfield's resources or if it's just a matter of a depleted power source.

. . . I don't really know anything about that. But I think I understand that this isn't like their usual tricks. [ Her brow was creased in thought, and she steps forward to put her hand to the door — it's solid, this time. ] It doesn't feel like it's being done on purpose. I don't like how random it is.

I think I do. This kind of random feels disconnected. Disconnected means they don't know how to respond yet. And if they don't know how to respond... They don't know how to keep the kids in the backyard.

It's time to go exploring.

Eh? Exploring where? There isn't anywhere to go without ending up back on the other side of town. [ She turns her head skyward. ] And going up only gets harder the more I try.

I'm betting we won't have so much difficulty reaching past city limits with things going haywire.

Hmm... I'm all up for trying. [ She shrugs her shoulders. ] What's the worst that could happen? [ They could glitch through the world and fall into eternity? ]

[Nonsense. That only happens in...Mayfield. Still, Tony spazzes a little at her words.]

DON'T... don't, say that. Around me. I don't like those words. Or to be handed things. Or government agents.

[ About the second-to-last statement. ] What if someone has a present for you?

...ok, I make exceptions for presents.

[ Meiling laughs. ] And if someone is serving you food? Or tea?

[ She pats him squarely on the back. ] I just want to be clear! I guess I don't guess what you're worried about.

[ Then she looks up and down the street. ] So... what's your plan?

[Tony adjusts his suit and straightens his cuffs with slight disdain.] I haven't really thought it through. I tend to work better that way.

Ahh. [ Meiling puts her hands on her hips and nods. She gets it. ] Patchouli's always telling me to not run off without telling her what's going on, so you should do the same if you need any help from me.

Now you're speaking my language. I will. I might look you up if things get interesting. For now though...just a little investigation. Maybe some donuts.

...it's because of the food, isn't it? [ Meiling is nothing if not aware of her healthy appetite. ]
