[ 952 Beulah Street – Morning ]

[ He's seated at the kitchen table, having not even gone to sleep the night before, or even the night before that. His cool, relaxed posture gives nothing away. The fact that he is ready for anything, at any moment.

He has lived in near-isolation for what has felt like years. Mayfield is overwhelming enough, even while lacking the presence of the Force. But Obi-Wan Kenobi has never been one to condone weakness, especially when it comes to himself.

He will not be made a prisoner here.

So he sits, and he waits, as calm as ever, sipping at a cup of tea, waiting for the woman who had been assigned to live with him to appear. ]

[ MacCready and Sons Law Office – Afternoon ]

[ Obi-Wan has always placed the best of his efforts into every task he performs, even the most mundane. Working in this office holds less excitement than anything he can place in living memory.

Everything about his demeanour hints someone who is quite inviting, and always charming. Strange, considering how as a Jedi, he would prefer to keep himself at a distance from all but a select few. ]

[ John Doe Park – Late Afternoon to Evening ]

[ He's out stalking walking as he attempts to bring everything into focus. He cannot help but inwardly feel bewildered, while lacking in his usual patience. As he walks, soft words are mumbled out under his breath. ]

He is here. Anakin. Skywalker is here... You're a fool, a damn blasted fool.

((ooc: So! Better late than never, right? For this AU, Obi-Wan accepted Count Dooku's offer to join him in Attack of the Clones. While he isn't a Sith Lord, he is a Dark Jedi, made rather angry and partially insane due to so much crap Dooku put him through (all at Sidious' command, of course).))

[last_ofthe_jedi]

[On his walk home from work Luke is quite surprised to feel a disturbance in the Force. There's a presence nearby, familiar but strange. He doesn't recognize this presence and yet, somehow, he feels as if he's known it his whole life.

Finally, in the park, he glimpses a man. He's sure that's whose presence he felt. This man is strong in the Force. It's a strength that Luke is very familiar with. Powerful. And dark.

Luke pauses on the sidewalk to observe the man for a moment, unsure if he should approach. There's the very strange feeling that he knows this man. What would happen if they met?]

[mediations]

[ He can feel eyes upon him. The familiar warning prickle, a sense of danger - not from the Force, but still good enough.

Obi-Wan picks his way towards the young man, deliberately careful and casual, all in one go. ]

Yes?

[last_ofthe_jedi]

[Luke is somewhat unsurprised to find that the man noticed him so quickly. His gaze is unwavering and his expression steady and cool.]

You're strong with the Force. Are you a Jedi?

[Of course Luke means "dark side of the Force" and "Sith" but he doesn't know that. To someone unfamiliar with Luke's history it might appear that he's simply disguising his words to eavesdropping ears.]

[mediations]

In a different time. [His gaze flickers away, before returning back to the man before him.] Are you?

[Luke nods slowly. Normally he wouldn't be so open about himself but here he knows there's no danger from the other prisoners. In fact, finding common interests with them can be beneficial.]

Luke Skywalker. My father is a Jedi Master.

[Or so he thinks.]

[mediations]

[Skywalker. He only knew of one other with that name, at least amongst the Jedi. The revelation causes his grey-blue eyes to widen.]

Anakin... Anakin and the Senator. [ He hisses out the names, eyes glinting. Oh, so he had been right to worry about sending the two of them off, alone together. ]

Oh, the incredible satisfaction. [He rolls his eyes. ]

[last_ofthe_jedi]

[Luke isn't surprised that this man knows who his parents are. Back home, just about the entire galaxy does. However, he does furrow his brows at the fact that he referred to them as "Anakin and the Senator".]

Yes, but my mother hasn't been a senator for some time. She's the supreme chancellor now. Do you know them personally?

[He's detecting some animosity but he's keeping his tone neutral, if a bit curious. Previous experience has taught Luke to never assume anything about other people from his world. Coming from a different point in time can significantly affect someone's opinion of a particular person or subject.]

[mediations]

I taught Anakin for the better part of a decade. [ Old feelings, small scraps of locked away memories gather forth momentarily, before they are stamped down. Still, he is quite shaken, almost furious, to be speaking of his old student for what feels like the first time in years. ]

[last_ofthe_jedi]

[Luke is somewhat amused that this man isn't bothering to hide his anger and other ill feelings. He can certainly see his father in that. Anakin has never been a very patient or forgiving man.]

I can tell. And you are?

[His father never liked talking about his old masters. Perhaps now Luke can finally learn of his past.]

[mediations]

... Obi-Wan Kenobi. [ The name is uttered with the pride he never truly rid himself of, yet tinged with exhaustion, almost defeat. From all Dooku had put him through, no doubt at the bidding of someone higher than himself, his name meant nothing - he meant nothing. ]
