[Action-park] The fate of love on this fair day...
[Anyone near the park today might see a woman sitting on one of the benches, humming to herself. That in itself is not strange, but there are shadowy hands sprouting from the ground and nearby trees all holding different flowers, and swaying in time to her melody. Occasionally, she is presented with one or more of the flowers for inspection. Those unlucky flowers are then shredded, and there is a growing carpet of petals at her feet. Sometimes her humming rises into actual lyrics.]
Petals fall and flowers wither,
Voices call 'Come now! Come hither...'
[OOC: Yep, this is choose your own terrible, terrible adventure. Pick any flower effect you like. Fair warning though, pitcher plant and hyacinth are likely to be dangerous choices. You have been warned...]

[In light of all these people getting caught up in Valentine's Day fever or something, Gilgamesh has decided to go check up on his assigned wife. After all, she's technically his "property" and he doesn't want her running afoul of any of the affected people.]
So there you are.
[He dangles a bouquet of carnations that he got from who-knows-where in front of her face.]
These things came in the mail again. I think they're yours.

Good afternoon, My lord husband. And thank you.
[She inclines her head respectfully.]

[Arranged marriages were the norm of his time too. But between the facts that he was more or less immortal, he hated staying in one place for too long, and most men and women got jealous when their partner slept around, he wasn't too big on getting married to anyone.]
[He looks over at the shadow hands.]
Wow, I think you've got a whole flower shop here.
no subject
But they fade away so fast.... I merely wished to enjoy them while I can.
no subject
[He looks a little more serious.]
Nothing lasts forever. Bodies, buildings, and even the land itself decays with time. Nations rise and fall. The legends of heroes fade in and out of humanity's collective memory. Love, the emotion that transcends all else, is fickle. Not even the gods themselves are truly eternal...
[He is silent for a while before brightening up again.]
That's why we have to milk every single drop of enjoyment out of things while they last! Hey, tell you what, I'll search around and when I get back, this won't just be a flower shop--it'll be a freaking sea of flowers!
[And given his tone, he means it literally.]
no subject
[So then perhaps not even Brother? That is actually a rather comforting thought.]
How generous you are, my Lord.
[Such kindness. She's really not used to it.]
no subject
[He doesn't stay around long enough to hear her next sentence, because he's already run off to grab some flowers. When he comes back, he is carting a flowering fruit tree that he yanked out of somebody's yard.]
Here, thought I'd go for some variety her\e.
no subject
May I truly keep this?
no subject
[Unless the guy whose yard he just vandalized gets mad and comes looking for his tree.]
no subject
Thank you, my Lord. I shall treasure your kind gift.
[She stands. And the shadows lift up the tree. Why yes, she does intend to just take it home with her and have the hands plant it in the ground.]

[Action]
[The woman is shredding irises. Iris. How lovely—such nostalgia inspired from the name!]
[The shadow-hands aren’t a bother at all to Erim. If anything, the supernatural things are more of a comfort to the woman who was once a goddess.]
Hello there. Do you mind if I take a seat?
[Oh, how this woman reminded her of a princess back home. She wishes for nothing more than a domestic, sibling-like chat right now. The world could be falling apart around their ears, her argent locks could be falling onto her knee-length black skirt and she wouldn’t mind at all.]
Re: [Action]
[One of the shadow hands helpfully brushes the petals from the bench.]
This town is so often an ugly place, and yet it is so beautiful today.
Re: [Action]
Is it now? I've only recently arrived here; I'm afraid I can't speak of its beauty on other days, but I suppose I can agree with you.
Re: [Action]
[Kind of reminds her of home, really.]
Re: [Action]
I expected as much. How’ve you survived thus far? You must be a capable warrior, then. I’m sure you are, what with these wonderous powers of yours. [As she says this, she gestures to the shadow hands.]
[And despite the woman’s chilling words, Erim smiles.]
Oh—I seem to have forgotten my manners. I am Erim.
Re: [Action]
And yet everyone around me just kept... disappearing.
[The look in her eyes is faraway, and she can almost see those bloodstained battlefields even now.]
I am called Oichi.
no subject
[For now all she can do is smile and nod and incline her head thoughtfully.]
no subject
I much prefer it that way....
[And thus far, no sign of Brother. Always a good thing.]
no subject
[All things Erim had learned do loathe from the Doom Island Wars. Why oh why can she not feel anything other than happiness and warmth? Why is caring her first concern, weighing it even before sympathy or curiosity?]
Nnh… I’m… not usually like this.
Battles. Terrible things. They should not be fought at all…
[A whiff of the carnations, however, and this feeling spread away.]
You have been through a great number of harrowing events. So courageous.
no subject
[She had never liked being forced to fight her Brother's battles. Had never liked watching everyone flee from her in terror.]
I am not courageous at all. I only did what Brother told me to...
no subject
Your battles were not your own, and I can see your disdain of the fight. But you must never lose heart, and the next time protect those you love.
[…Where in the world did that come from? Was it her, or this new-found compulsion?]
no subject
I have already failed twice. Will I be allowed another chance?
no subject
But then a man and his companions taught me that as long as you have the spirit to do so, you have unlimited chances in this world. Your energy may falter, but its waves never will. Willpower is a thing that comes in those waves, yet it never falls completely unless you allow it.
Believe in yourself, Oichi.
[This is entirely unlike her, but Erim for some reason doesn’t mind this time.]
no subject
Thank you.
[These are the same kinds of things Lord Happy was fond of saying. Perhaps they are true....]
You have truly known some valiant warriors.
no subject
[Each of them wonderful people, memories always and forever fond.]
[But reflection can be done later; Oichi is Erim’s top priority at the moment.]
The place you’re from, it’s not very friendly I take it?
no subject
But Brother never left it that way for very long....
no subject
Your own sounds like a terrible person.
no subject
Brother is... the Devil King of the sixth Heaven. I do not think that could be anything but terrible.
no subject
[Erim was curious at this point, which normally would’ve been repressed.]
And that makes you…?
no subject
They called me the Demon Queen....
[But she was only ever a pawn for her brother's ambition. She knows that now.]
no subject
It's a bit funny, though - the Goddess of Death conversing with the Demon Queen! Does it not sound like a children's book?
[Normally, warning sirens would've been set off in Erim's mind. She had decided there was no reason, upon waking up, for her to reveal her identity - at least not until she had managed to regain some of her powers.]
[But the carnations cloud that.]
/comes hither
Is that a game?
no subject
No, I am merely admiring the many lovely colors.
[The shadows hands are arranging the flower petals in different patterns for her amusement.]
no subject
no subject
But they all withered and died.
withered.... and died..... and scattered to the winds.
[She may not be talking about flowers....]
no subject
no subject
There is truly no escaping the darkness and the flame.
no subject
[Her mother's answer. She has never really been sure whether she believes it. She has been too long at the edge of oblivion, full of dulled fear and hate.]
no subject
But can we do that if we are not permitted to die..?
no subject

It is hard here, isn't it? We don't know how long any will stay. There are none we were close to...
[Though presently she is excepting Oichi from that.]
