event end: the beginning of the end
[The storm has ended.
Abruptly, both the streets and the clouds clear. The walking corpses and the hazmats alike have vanished, but the damage they wrought is still visible, not having been erased like usual. Looking around Mayfield, you might think it had been hit by a small tornado: debris lies across the streets, and there's not a drone in sight. Even your drone children have disappeared.
Still, though: it's over. The air over the town is actually peaceful, and the voice that comes crackling over the radio- Annie's voice -sounds relieved.]
...I can't believe it. She actually did it. She beat him....
It's over, everyone. Jonathan Zemekis has been removed as Administrator of the simulation. We couldn't have done this without you. Breaking into that vault beneath the Mayor's Office was the last straw it took to break his control. I didn't realize how badly his personality had fractured...
[She lets out a heavy sigh.]
But that doesn't matter now. The point is... we're free. I can't possibly thank you all enough for this. I don't know if my brother and I can figure out how to send you home, but I promise we're going to...
...hmm? What's-
[A man's voice breaks in.] Annie! Watch out!
[A sound, then- a lightning strike? A gunshot? Whatever it is, it doesn't sound pleasant.]
No... Andrew, no! Y-You... How could you...?
[More noise, then, impossible to discern- loud crackling that could be an explosion or an earthquake or anything in-between. What can't be missed, however, is the sound of Annie screaming before it all goes silent.]
