event: portal seven | the void

The final portal doesn't seem to be a portal at all. It's a glitch hole.

Located on the lawn of the library is a hole much like the ones that have plagued every new location for the past week. As with them, it hurts your eyes to look at too long, but even if you should muscle past the pain and stare straight into it, you can make out nothing on the other side. Nothing, save for a shifting, twitching, swirling void.

Unlike the portals, which were vertically placed like doorways, the hole at the Library is strewn across the lawn: if you want to enter it, you're going to have to jump. Of course, there's no guarantee it will even lead anywhere. Touching the hole or sticking your arm in doesn't have any effect: you'll pull your arm out unharmed. As far as jumping in completely goes, those who jump in disappear from sight. As long as you're on the Mayfield side, there's no way to tell what lies beyond the hole.

There's only one way to find out.

[ooc: Feel free to roleplay up to the point your characters jump in, assuming they do. A single group subthread will be created in a few hours revealing what happens on the other side.]

[hey hey no killing him this time. She was just. Looking. That's all!!

Buut given how limited the space is here? Having her go away is too much to ask for, Charles. Especially when you're one of her pups, okay. So just, er, enjoy feeling watched for the rest of your stay here, because she sure as heck is going to keep him within at least her peripheral vision in case anything happens. STAY ALERT, BABBY BAT... The mama hen's fierce when it becomes a mama bear...]

[even looking is reason to be suspicious sometimes okay, especially when dealing with her! he's just got his guard up...

but yep he'll just be over here ignoring the constant eyes-on-the-back-of-your-neck feeling (which she might feel returned once or twice; he may have set out to go through this portal alone and he may be angry with her now, but he can't fully ignore that scant amount of concern in the back of his mind despite her obvious competence) and doing his best to search for the memento.]

[Keeping your guard up is not a bad thing. As long as it's your overall guard towards the situation at hand, and not directed specifically at her...

It's okay. Even if she's pretty deadeyed right now, her constant attention on him does still translate directly into concern, which she doesn't care in disguising. Like it or not, you're under her wing through this, so get comfortable, Charles! :v]
