third half moon ☾

[action - 1485 Kramden]

[Remus has been spending the better part of the day pushing his hand through the surface of the dining room table, and pulling it out again. It's not that he's any stranger to unusual things happening, but this is certainly new and exciting and just a little bit pants-shittingly terrifying. What's harder to ignore is the way Dronemum -- in a tone of obsessive distress -- asks him repeatedly what he's done with her refrigerator (she can't find it anywhere) as she crashes backwards into the countertops in the kitchen like some misplaced insect.

He can only block that out for so long, though.

[action - Makeout Point]

[Say what one would about the usual activities of this particular spot, it's certainly a nice quiet place to do a bit of thinking. The view doesn't hurt either. Borrowed book open in his lap, Remus is valiantly attempting and brilliantly failing to focus on something other than this utter strangeness. But he's read the same line over and over again without a hint of it sinking in, and this is becoming nearly as frustrating as trying to get anything done back at the house.]

[oh does he know the struggle of dealing with a sub-par library well, so the book isn't given a second glance after he figures out where it likely came from.]

Do the classics suit you, or have you a different preference?

I've regained a small section from my private library. If you run out of things to borrow and tire of being treated as a child at the library here, I wouldn't mind lending you a few. [because sharing fine art and literature is one of a very, very small number of things he can manage to not be stingy about! small miracles.]

I have all of works written by Shakespeare currently, and a few transcriptions of a book or two by Voltaire. Is that fine?

[which is a very appreciated reaction, really. he'd hate to be lending his things out to anyone who was less than enthused.]

Good, good. I know how dreadful it can be, waiting for your own books to be returned with nothing but comics and "Learn the Alphabet" to tide you over.

[he takes the book with a nod of thanks and seats himself a little bit away from the tree. with all the glitching, he doesn't trust himself to not get stuck inside it at an inopportune moment or something...]

A fine distraction from the massive irritant this town has become. It's been a while since I've read Poe.

Thank you.

[and he'll settle as comfortably as he can with the borrowed book, enjoying a pleasant break from drone babble and people screaming about their hands being stuck in walls. it's nice to find people who share interests, especially when distractions are more than welcome.]
