third half moon ☾
[action - 1485 Kramden]
[Remus has been spending the better part of the day pushing his hand through the surface of the dining room table, and pulling it out again. It's not that he's any stranger to unusual things happening, but this is certainly new and exciting and just a little bit pants-shittingly terrifying. What's harder to ignore is the way Dronemum -- in a tone of obsessive distress -- asks him repeatedly what he's done with her refrigerator (she can't find it anywhere) as she crashes backwards into the countertops in the kitchen like some misplaced insect.
He can only block that out for so long, though.]
[action - Makeout Point]
[Say what one would about the usual activities of this particular spot, it's certainly a nice quiet place to do a bit of thinking. The view doesn't hurt either. Borrowed book open in his lap, Remus is valiantly attempting and brilliantly failing to focus on something other than this utter strangeness. But he's read the same line over and over again without a hint of it sinking in, and this is becoming nearly as frustrating as trying to get anything done back at the house.]

[He spread his arms out to mock offer Lily said make outs.]
I'd be happy o do the honors my worse half is failing at.

Enjoy that, then.

[He was suddenly very interested in this.]

Mom, we're having, uh, snacks outside! The porch is still solid, at least.

[To be honest he just wanted an exscuse to grab Remus and snog him for a second.]

There's a spare in the closet upstairs. I'll be out in a moment.
[Abandoning the treats to Lily's capable hands, Remus tries to hurry upstairs, get the blanket, and get back down before Sirius can corner him. It's more than likely going to be a futile effort, but for what it's worth, he has the blanket draped over one arm before Sirius catches him in the corridor.]

Hello Moons.
[He didn't leave Remus's mouth for very long though before he was kissing him again.]
no subject
You shouldn't make it so obvious. [Remus gasps, only parting from Sirius for long enough to state as much, before he's diving back.]
no subject
[That was before they'd started though.]
no subject
What?! Why-- what did you tell her?
no subject
[He let his hand rest around Remus's waist, thumb rubbing calmingly over part of his back.]
no subject
I'm not afraid of her. It's just--
[Remus doesn't know how to explain it without sounding completely indelicate, and running the risk of hacking Sirius off quite thoroughly.]
...I like this. I like it a lot. It's just never something I thought I'd be doing with anyone, so it's still a little strange to me.
no subject
I won't lie to her if she asks. Nor James.
[He remembered what Remus had told him when things had started.]
If this is going to be a long term thing, there aren't going to be secrets.
no subject
[Remus stared pointedly directly below Sirius' chin. No, the truth was always the best policy between them. If one of them were hiding something, the others always had a way of finding out. And after they'd worked out that Remus was a werewolf, they'd made him promise to keep no more secrets.]
They won't care. James already said he wouldn't, and Lily just... doesn't hold anyone to any standards whatsoever. But I--
I don't know. It's just strange.
no subject
Strange? Being with me?
[That wasn't something he'd expected to come from Remus.]
no subject
[Clearly, they'd not gotten around to having this conversation back home. If they had, Sirius wouldn't be looking so downtrodden right now.]
It's not a bad thing, Pads. I just-- I'd sort of settled into the idea that I wouldn't be with anyone. Because it was too dangerous, and I didn't want to be a burden. I mean, I won't say it hadn't occurred to me because you-- ...something changed with us when Padfoot showed up.
But I don't have any illusions about what it's going to be like after school. I'm not going to be able to hold a job, if I can even find one to begin with. I won't be able to support myself, I'll still need you and James, possibly for the rest of my life. ...Merlin, Sirius. What kind of bloody future is that to offer someone you love?

Does Sirius even know what he's saying? He must, Remus concludes. He's been in this relationship for longer than Remus has, apparently. But his words bring a traitorous sting to Remus' eyes, and rather than entertain that risk a moment longer, he pulls Sirius once more into a desperate kiss.]

Remus will have to get used to the idea that he's head-over-heels in love with Sirius Black, and all the complications that may arise thereof.]
Promise me. [Remus gasps when he finally manages to part himself from Sirius again.] Promise me you mean that. Because if I do this, if I get into this with you, and you decide you don't want me, I can't--
I love you.
no subject
I sort of figured that out about a month back, er, back home back. You mumbled it in your sleep.
[Sirius found it funny that somehow the only time that phrase wasn't terrifying or made him want to bolt like a seeker was when it was coming from Remus. He blamed Padfoot. The dog had gotten too attached and by proxy he'd gotten attached to Remus in a way he'd never expected to. Not that he minded much.]

[Not that he can claim the contrary either. Even with the distance that divided their beds, the mere feet of cold floor and the heavy red drapes, Remus could hear the other boy's steady breath night after night. Counting sheep was tedious, but drifting off to slow draw of Sirius' breath? That's at once the best and worst remedy Remus knows for a fitful night.]

[He brushed some hair from Remus's face.]
Pete snorts like a pig in his sleep.
