infourbooks: Promo shot of Neville with arms folded, holding wand (Default)

Backdated to July 30th because I fail and keeping track of the current date

[Phone A, filtered from Lily, James, Remus and Sirius]

Has anyone else have people show up in Mayfield from... really far before them? All these people keep showing up that are about my parents' age, but here they're barely older than I am. I'm... really not sure what to do about it.

[Action: Around Mayfield]

[Neville really is just trying to go about his business, but it seems the drones just won't leave him be today.]

Happy birthday, Neville!

Uh... thanks?

[Person I don't actually know...]

[Action: In front of 1486 Kramden]

[And how is Neville spending his birthday? Tending his garden, of course.]

[Phone B]

So, uh... could someone explain to me why all the drones keep asking me if I'm going to get my license now?

That sort of thing seems to happen a lot here.

It means they expect you to take your motor vehicle operator's permit test. If they just started asking, happy birthday!

[ Ilsa chuckles. ]

[Sue approaches Neville as he gardens, all smiles.]

Hey, Neville! How's your garden coming along?

They're talking about your driver's license.

A driving license. You don't already have one? [Mayfield was certain to give him a useless one with a dumb looking picture on it. Bleh.] Not that you really do need one. It's entirely redundant.

You don't actually need one to drive the thing.

Yeah, I'm a pretty similar situation to that. Mine is more like my grandparents' age, though, so it's just a tiny bit more awkward.
nonmetus: (Cute.)

[James is on his way to visit Remus (well, that's what he'll tell himself and anyone else. He definitely isn't going there to see a certain redheaded lady, no indeed. Their house is just down the road from Neville's, and James stops by, leaning on the little white fence. smirking a little] Beautiful day for some gardening, isn't it?

[He'll slow his bike as he's riding by.]

. . . nice garden.

[If anybody could appreciate a good garden, it was Holland.]

Mayfield can take people from different points in time. Be it days or...years.

They never do seem to stop smiling do they? It's creepy.

And apparently Happy Birthday, kid.

[ Aziraphale is doing the same -- while he's not entirely happy about his drone wife and child, he does rather enjoy having a nice little garden to look after. He sees someone over the fence and smiles - it's always good to be friendly with the neighbours. ]

Good afternoon!

Yes. It happens often. I've encountered people from home from before events that I have experienced as well as after, in a future that I have not yet seen.

I don't understand the rationale, though it often leads to very uncomfortable conversations regarding what one last experienced at home.
