[Marisa is pushing a cart around the grocery store filling it up with random food stuffs. There's literally no rhyme or pattern to what she's picking out, making it nearly impossible to figure out what she's planning to cook. Or for how many people.]



[B: Action - Church]

[Marisa is sitting in the second pew from the front with her boots resting on the back of the one in front of her. Looking bored, she tosses a star bullet repeatedly up into the air and catches just as one would a ball. Eventually, she'd be approached...]

Not really, ze. Oh, I'm gonna join the Teen Titans cause it sounds cool, though Beast Boy keeps trying to get me to tell him if it's me that flies or the broom that flies.

'Teen Titans'? It sounds a bit cliched, are you playing at superheroes? I've seen Beast Boy around before, I believe. Is he the green person that can shapeshift into animals? As for your flight... Does some technicality of that sort really matter?

I just think it'd be cool to officially be a 'superhero'. And that'd be him. He's just so wanting to know which it is.

I kinda teased him with it when I took him for a ride one. He was convinced it was me and not the broom, so I leaped off my broom and free fell while the broom continued to fly and support him. Eventually he panicked and caught me, not willing to see if I'd go splat or not.

What determined your hair and eye color, traits that get passed on from your parents for exmaple. It's what composes you biologically, and if something goes wrong in it, that's also what causes diseases. Tweaking your genetic buildup could give you powers is a popular belief in the west, but mostly in fiction, I believe.

No idea how that related to Beast Boy. Shapeshifting isn't uncommon to me. A lot of youkai can do that.

Hmm, well if magic doesn't mean anything to him, it's that or extraterrestrial beings. I'd include spirits and gods under the former too, if we had to categorize things. You knew a lot of youkais, from home?

Uh, no. I'm human, ze. We're kinda on the dinner plate for most youkai.

I'm just one of the very few humans that can properly defend myself from wild youkai. Exceptional youkai are different, ze.

But you don't need to kill them, so it sounds a bit convenient to me. There's no 'defeat means friendship' cliche? Or well, a truce of some kind at least. I can sort of see that work, somehow...

You can't really kill youkai anyways; they just come back eventually since most of them are the embodiment of concepts, elements and aspects of existence. Just takes time.

The exceptional youkai have mostly just evolved beyond the barbaric lifestyle of the wild youkai. They're also the really powerful ones.

But it's your world, so I suppose. Gensokyo's where they can all live and mind their own business in peace, right? Still, if it's as varied as you say, even disregarding the occasional incidents, such coexistence is rather astounding to hear about!

...they don't exactly mind their own business. There's a lot of youkai infighting. I deal with it all the time with the stupid fairies in my forest. The problem with exceptional youkai is they get bored easily cause they live so long.

Wild youkai are just... wild. There really isn't any coexistence with the humans. The Human Village has Keine as a protector. Her ability to devour history makes it easy to keep the Village safe.

But there's some sort of balance, hm? The population stays relatively stable despite the mesh. How long has Gensokyo been around for?

The Hakurei bloodline was established for that reason. That's something you'd have to ask Keine about cause Reimu won't even have the details cause that lazy miko never paid attention to her training.

Now, if I remember Hieda no Akyuu's chronicles correctly, Gensokyo has existed for, like, twelve hundred years. The Hakurei Barrier - the thing that separates Gensokyo from the Outside World, was established... [Give her a moment to think] Well, it was Year 126 of the Current Era, so the barrier was made 126 years ago.

Keine? Kamishirasawa-san, you mean? [She gives a small nod. Mokou's friend, right...] Goodness, that's quite a while. How were things, before the barrier was put in place? In terms of contact with the outside world, to be more specific?

I dunno, ze. I wasn't alive. Everything I know is in relation to the Border being up. I know that when humans of the Outside World get 'spirited away' it's because they either wandered into Gensokyo somehow or they were yoinked here by a youkai or another resident.
