event: new and improved; factory day 2

[Welcome to the Factory.

A blackened, dilapidated building sitting on the edge of town, it seems to have appeared out of nowhere overnight. It is surrounded by an electrified fence; should anyone on the outside (or the inside) try to cross it, they will find themselves repelled by the force with painful electric shocks. No amount of strength, size, magic, or flying ability will get you past the fence.

The Factory itself looks like it's been through hell. It's falling apart on the outside. Half of the building looks collapsed. The bricks are scorched. All of the window frames are rusted. It certainly doesn't look like a place that should be up and running, but it is. Dr. Johnson and her team are scurrying around the building, performing treatments, operations, and experimentations- making 'improvements'.

Following your treatment and/or surgery, you wake up- or don't- in a filthy room. It's nothing like the fairly sterile surgery room had been. You're crammed in there with dozen other 'patients', each in varying stages of recovery.

You're probably in moderate to severe pain. The pain might be so great that you are incapable of moving. Perhaps some of your limbs are missing or maybe you find huge gaps in your memory. Maybe you're very sick with some disease you don't recall developing. Either way, you were sent in for 'improvements', and you've been 'improved' as much as Dr. Johnson thinks you needed.

If they're lucid enough, the other patients will probably talk to you. You'll find that, like you, they're all non-drone townspeople.

You'll be contained here for 24 hours. Following that, you'll be released. When you leave the building, you'll find yourself outside the hospital in Mayfield with the Factory nowhere to be seen.

The Factory rooms are as follows:

Recovery: A large recovery room with dozens and dozens of gurneys and beds. It's filled with equipment like IVs and medical charts. This is where all characters will wake up. It's very unsanitary in here.

Operating room: Where you endured your surgery, treatment, and/or experiment. All operating and medical supplies are still here. Dr. Johnson is nowhere to be found.

Supply room: Standard medical supplies are found here. They include typical doctors' equipment, bandages, medicines, and the like. There's nothing particularly strong or lethal here, nor is there anything sharp which could be used as a weapon.

Lobby: The front lobby of the Factory. Designed like a hospital lobby, it also contains the waiting room. Dated 1950s magazines are strewn everywhere.

Well, that's a shame! You glow a really pretty color!

[ She seems oddly fixated on the color and the glow rather than the fact that Roxanne was just experimented on. Nena's own arm seems to be mostly replaced with steel with a noticeable reddening around the connection part but she seems oddly ignorant of it. She swings her arm out in excitement, causing the clumsy, clunky prosthetic to hit the wall. The prosthetic, with all of its strength, hits the side of the wall causing a huge rattle and dent. Nena tries to say her name over the loud impact. ]

I'm Nena Trinity! It's nice to meet you, Roxanne!

[pluckyreporter]

Yeah. Wish it was under better circumstances.

[She holds the gown to her awkwardly, watching Nena warily as she ...well, gets all bustin' the stuff because...damn, girl, she hurts enough without getting socked right now.]

[bridezilla]

Well, yeah, it'd be a lot better if you glowed pink! [ Nena stops banging things around with her clumsy new arm and instead focuses her attention on Roxanne. Yep. Instead of commenting on the torture you had to endure, it's a simple, "it should be pink" remark in a totally cheerful tone. ]

[pluckyreporter]

Yeah, I bet it would. You'l have to tell the doctor that...

[Hopefully she wouldn't. Roxanne didn't want round two of the surgery, okay?]

[She was trying to get off the gurney, looking -- less than okay with being in Nena's reach]

[bridezilla]

I would but I don't want to see them right now. They made my arm hurt. [ Her voice sharpens to a tough, yet still high pitched, growl at the mention of them operating on her while she was conscious. Having a limb severed under those circumstances was not fun. Though, by her tone and facial expression, Roxanne might be able to tell that this was more of a build up of aggression rather than a sudden burst. ]

[pluckyreporter]

Yeah, I bet they did.

[And that arm looks like it might hurt someone back. She doesn't seem to know her own strength, but--

--Roxanne remains wary all the same. For her own health.]

[bridezilla]

Some of stuff they did isn't too bad! I know this one lady who was turned into a really happy and fun and giggly upbeat person!

[ She does know but there isn't much she can do about it. Her arm is just that terribly ineffective. ]

[pluckyreporter]

Olivier? Yeah, I met her.

[Earlier. Oh well.]

[bridezilla]

Yeah! Her! I used to know her during her first time here! This is her second time! She's really great like this, but she was great before too!

[pluckyreporter]

Been here-- more than once? [That's not good; Roxanne doesn't know how everything works, but she's trying to learn.]

[bridezilla]

Yeah. Sometimes you're droned but then they return you. You either remember what happened, or you don't. [ She says this totally casually and happily! Learn everything you can, Roxanne! ]

[pluckyreporter]

[Good to know. She'll have to keep that in mind.]

I know you can be droned for any number of things-- sometimes they just shut you down, sometimes to keep you going back to your home or work... Breaking the law...

Anything else?

[bridezilla]

They sometimes drone you if you enter a place you aren't supposed to, and sometimes they drone various people for one of those things the town does to scare everyone once in awhile. I was partially droned once so half the time I'd be myself and the other half I wouldn't be. But you generally have it all down! [ Why is this girl so cheerful about everything? ]
