My excitement, let me show it to you
[Phone]
[The ever sarky Sirius Black is currently elated beyond reason. Why? Because the best of his best mates is here. In his house, sleeping in awful itchy black pajamas and asking all sorts of questions. Who else would he gush at then one Lily Evans who is his skinny dipping mate and girl-bro extraordinaire.]
Lils! Lils, he's here! Have you seen him? I mean really seen him? They've decided he's my brother in this place. Of course he's my brother. It's the perfect place for him. I'm going to go use this weird identification card one of the blokes in school gave me to go get alcohol so we can celebrate. You should come over. Hell, everyone's invited. We'll have a party of it at my house or in the park or lake or something. It clearly needs to be celebrated, yeah?

Re: [action]
[Another short pause.]
And I guess you're Lily's brother. I'm glad. She's been alone for a while now.
[action]
[Remus catches himself nervously turning his glass around in little circles in his hand. Before he can take that nonsense much further, he rather pointed places it on the coffee table -- on a coaster, thank you very much -- and sighs.]
But it's rather strange. I've talked to a few people here already, and-- it seems to be common knowledge, there are many non-humans here. Trolls and vampires and werewolves. ...how much are we telling these people? Is it safe?
Re: [action]
[Sirius fiddled with his glass, trying not to think about the reactions they'd get from everyone. If Remus changed and ate someone they would probably try to kill him. The thought left a bad taste in his mouth.]
[action]
[ Remus glanced out to the direction of the kitchen, chewing on the edge of his lower lip.]
What's happened then? Back home, between where I'm from and where you're from?
Re: [action]
[The hint of possessiveness over the wolf was well hidden. It took a few minutes for him to say anything about what happened between their times. When he did it was minimal.]
Nothing much. Just tests and Winter break and the like.
[action]
[No. In fact, the last time they tried that, the rest of them had been blackout knackered by the time Remus even felt tipsy. The rest of that night had consisted of cleaning vomit buckets and trying unsuccessfully to maneuver his friends into more comfortable positions.
Never again, that's what he'd promised himself. Never again.]
Re: [action]
[It'd been probably the most eventful holiday break he'd ever had, but he couldn't exactly share everything with the other boy. Still, there was a devilish grin on his face as he proclaimed what he knew would be surprising to the other boy.]
And I got you knackered.
[Well, he could tell him about everything except that one incident, couldn't he? About his crowning achievement of watching Remus J. Lupin drunk as a skunk and wondering about Hogwarts.]
It was rather brilliant actually. Did you know you ramble when you're drunk? On and on about nothing in general. One point you talked about cookies and how you wanted to bake one big enough to be a hat.
[action]
The less said, the better.]
Well. Considering how I am on gillyweed, that's not entirely surprising. The lot of you tend to pass out before I get terribly philosophical, but it happens, I promise you.
Merlin, Sirius; I didn't make you dance, did I?
Re: [action]
[That was before the kiss attack actually.]
[action]
[Remus offers Sirius a lop-sided smirk, staring up at the ceiling as he flops lengthways along the couch.]
...at least we've got each other here, you know? All of us, I mean. Just need Pete and we could all be one happy family again. Well almost. Hey! You know Frank, from school? Frank Longbottom? He's got a son, apparently; in the future I mean. Bloody odd to think about... Lives near Lily and I. Nice chap.
Re: [action]
[Sirius is drawing in the sweat of his glass. He's not sure what to say to the other boy at the moment. He feels like he's different and Remus is different. They're not the same people either of them were at those points in their lives.]
Remus, I've been here about a month. Since June actually. Has Lils given you the right and proper explanation of this place? It's a bit ... complicated.
[action]
[Remus glances back at Sirius. Something is wrong, something Sirius isn't telling him. Hell if anyone can drag truths like feelings out of Sirius if the dog isn't ready to share. Still, it's worrying.]
Not Lily, but other people, over the phone. I think I've got it mostly figured. ...Pads, is everything alright?
Re: [action]
[He swipes at the glass some more.]
S'just odd. With you both here and all. You're only a bit and I'm pretty sure Prongs might actually make time with Evans. She's a good bird too. Stubborn as a crow, but a good bird.
[action]
[Remus puts his hand over the top of Sirius' cup, leaning close and narrowing his eyes at the other boy. He stares hard, searching Sirius' gaze for some hint, even the barest indication of some truth lurking beneath. Remus had always been rather good at reading people, particularly his friends. Though for the life of him, he can't seem to working Sirius out just now.
There's a bit more to it than that, though. It's a look in his eyes; that accusing Lupin stare of, 'Black, you tell me what's wrong with you, and you tell me now.' Perhaps accusing isn't entirely the right word. Intense, gravid, all boring through Sirius like a drill-press.
Though just as quickly, he relinquishes it, and Remus leans away again with a sigh.]
It's better that we're all here. I like to think we're formidable that way.
Re: [action]
[Finally he takes a drink from his glass, thinking about all this.]
Prongs might actually get his girl in this place.
[action]
At school, Lily simply scolded him for not exercising more discretion where his companions were concerned.]
Seems that way. If he plays his cards right, at least. And then it'll just be you and I. The lone cheeses.
Re: [action]
[action]
[Remus chews at the inside of his lip, looking thoughtful for a moemnt before he rocks out of his seat and stretches.]
Not that it matters much. Handsome devil, you. You'll have a girl for each arm before long.
Re: [action]
[action]
[Remus glances back at Sirius and grins, then begins picking his way around the room, carefully examining the pictures hanging on the walls and decorating the mantle.]
It's like I told James, I'm not interested in that. I'd only be a disappointment. People here have told me we get our powers back, as well as our physical forms. ...Moony's bound to show up again eventually, along with all those scars. And then what?
Then I'm in the same boat I was back home.
[Remus glances back at Sirius again, a hint of sadness in his smile now.]
I don't trust anyone like I trust you lot. No one will ever understand me the way you do.
Re: [action]
[action]
Don't place bets on it, that's all.
Re: [action]
And what if it were one of us? Say Pete suddenly tells you he fancies you?
[action]
Not considering it simply makes it easier to deal with the frustration.
But he's not pushing Sirius away, not shooing the boy's hands out of his hair, or backing off at the attention. Perhaps that alone can speak for itself.]
...it'd be alright, I guess. Don't think I'm really Pete's type, though. If I recall, he prefers them busty.
Re: [action]
[He was teasing as he ran his fingers through the other boy's hair. Absently his fingers brushed over and behind his ears.]
