[Just another day. Get up, go get dressed and showered, make breakfast for himself, realize Ian is gone... wait, Ian is droned. Damnit!]

Well there goes the pirate ship. Pity, I was actually kind of hoping not to mow the lawn because of that.

[Date wondered just what kind of other surprises this place had for him once he was grabbing the coffee pot and beginning to bang around the kitchen. Noisily, just to drive attention up.]

[2 - Hospital]

[Anyone could find him, working hard at his job. He knew that he enjoyed his work but if he had to deal with Mr. Fredrick's bum knee once more, he'd probably have to shoot himself. But it wasn't bad to be all honest, it was good honest work. Maybe bother him while he's in between patients?]

[3 - Anywhere in Town/Post Office]

[Date's trails had brought him towards the post office again. Why couldn't he get his mind off picking up something for his defence? A birth blaster or a buckle. Something. And yet he really didn't want to lose anything like everyone was warning him about... but it was tempting. Like a lure really.]

[Date let out a tired sigh.] Yeah sorry about that. I've been busy too, with the hospital getting a weird overflow of people.

Want breakfast? I can't promise anything sweet but I can make it for you.

It's fine I'm used to being home alone a lot.

But I'm fine I'm almost done my toast.

[He's finishing his first slice now. He does however give the man a feeble smile.]

Yeah likewise. Sorry I didn't realize you were here. I've just been so occupied... but I suppose that's no excuse really.

It's all right, I'm used to being alone a lot.

[His mom had a tendency to go out and leave him alone for 'business meetings'. But it doesn't change the fact that Henry has been feeling a bit alone in this house. You know...drones being as interesting as mud and all.]

[Well damn now he felt bad. This was something. With Ian they just did whatever and it came down to it. This was something else.]

Need a lift to school?

[The offer of a ride to school...hmmm. He usually did this with Emma but with a total stranger? Henry's going to ponder this for a minute. He may as well get to know Date right? Since they'll be living together.

A tiny smile seems to spread on his face.]

Sure.

[Just going to finish his breakfast and grab his backpack.

So how does it feel to be responsible Date?]

All right, let me just finish my own meal and I'll be right with you.

[Feels better at least, since being responsible is one of his major hangups at times.]

All right I can wait.

[So Henry's just going to stare at you for a little.

Then he's going to ask you something.]

How long have you been here Date?

Me? Around January or so. It wasn't too long to be honest.

I see....so are the monthly events as really as bad as they say? Like giant blob monsters and zombies?

They can be. It's been kind of light though for a while. The worst I've seen is the surgeries.

.....

Surgeries?

Real body horror stuff, like you'd see out of American horror films. Like swapping arms and legs and making people clear.

O-oh...

[Suddenly Henry's not feeling all to confident about surviving this town. Confidence boost is needed.]

Hey, it's okay. Stick with people, find others to rely on, you'll do fine. This place gives us plenty of downtime to mentally prepare for this craziness.

R-right I'll be sure to do that.

[Children in Mayfield people. That's always a good thing, right?]

[Well it beats the alternative.]

No problem. [Drinking the last of his coffee and crunching down his toast, he dusted his hands off.] All right, lets get you to school.

[The alternative being?

But Henry nods picking up his bag and going outside to the car. Oh by the way Henry's going to keep asking questions on the car ride. He probably won't be quiet.]

[That's fine with Date as he piles into the old fashioned car.] I need to trade this one up for one of those old style sports cars.

[Sitting down in the passenger seat, Henry stares at the old car.]

It's nothing like Emma's bug.

[More questions now.]

So where are you from?

I'm from Japan, Shinjuku born and raised. Got my doctorate at Tokyo U for medicine, and then I went traveling across the world with friends, helping people.

[Pulling out, he signaled into traffic and headed for the school.] I've been known as the Combat Doctor since I get into a lot of dangerous scenarios back home.

[Japan huh? Henry's probably heard about in geography so he nods along.]

What kind of dangerous scenarios?

[Curious Henry is curious.]

Warzones mostly, and dangerous areas torn up by warlords. Africa, Middle East, some parts of Afghanistan and other major trouble spots.

[Henry frowns not looking to happy about that stuff.]

That sounds evil, what those people do.
